Ninth District Opportunity, Inc.’s (Franklin County) teacher, Kevin Norris, always comes to work wearing a dress shirt and bow tie as a role model for his students. One day, Bristol came to school in a button-down shirt and slacks to be like Mr. Kevin. All he was missing was a bow tie! Mr. Kevin remembered a bow tie that was in storage and assisted Bristol to put it on. Bristol spent the rest of the day pretending he was Mr. Kevin. Throughout the day, he would unexpectedly run up to Mr. Kevin and give him a hug and tell him he loved him. The next day, the little boy returned wearing another button-down shirt and the bow tie! This is what it is all about!

Street Outreach found the sweetest lady living alone under a bridge today. The hardness of life didn't damper her perspective or change her. So positive, so t...hankful, so kind. We introduced her to a local encampment where she would be safe. Street Outreach secured a tent, tarp, sleeping bag, food and a change of clothes for her. The other neighbors at the camp set everything up for her. They were excited to have a new friend. We learn more from these amazing people than they ever get from us. NDO at work. See more

This is an example of what motivates our Street Outreach team to work so hard for those in need. A couple of months ago. NDO Street Outreach started a project at the homeless encampments around the city where the residents were provided industrial trash bags to clean the area around where they live. These are people with pride and a desire for living away from filth as much as anyone else. With no means of collecting and disposing of the trash, desperation led to overflowin...g unsanitary and unsightly conditions. Our street neighbors have tackled this project with purpose. Pride is shining through. Here is one of the camps where not only have they cleaned up the area of trash and organized the encampment into small communities, but have taken to planting trees and shrubs with mulch. The camp is basically spotless. Seeing this progression over time has further offered proof of the beauty of these wonderful neighbors. Street Outreach is ministered to much more than what we offer to these amazing people. Making the best of what they have, a great lesson for us all.

No more appointments are available. There is a waiting list; however, once the waiting list becomes full the system will not allow any more names to be placed on the waiting list. UPDATE:... If your county is NOT listed above please know that there are VERY few appointments available and they may fill up quickly. So if you are unable to make an appointment, it is very likely that your county is full. See more
