Great newsletter about how headaches that are caused by neck dysfunction (both joints and muscles) can be treated by a physical therapist (i.e. ME)! Trigger point needling can also be extremely helpful as well. http://www.instituteofphysicalart.com//Vardan_Headaches.pdf

Funny patient request of the day...."Jessica, will you stick a needle in my head?" Yep, sounds crazy. But let me tell you.....trigger point dry needling for headaches is AWESOME. Did you know that a large majority of headaches are really referred pain from muscles in the neck area??? Dry needling of these specific muscles that are known to cause headaches is very effective!!!! So stop living with daily, nagging headaches and call me now! And if needles aren't your thing, my hands can be equally as effective. My office number is (404)578-4826.

Do you know the difference between trigger point dry needling and acupuncture? A lot of people don't, and think it is the same thing. In fact, when I suggest dry needling to a patient, the first question I get asked is, "is it like acupuncture?" The answer is NO! Both use the same tool (a very thin monofilament needle) but with a very different purpose. Acupuncture is based on Eastern medicine and uses needles to balance the flow of energy believed to flow through meri...dians or pathways in the body. Dry needling is a treatment for trigger points, those taut bands within a muscle that cause pain both locally and in referred locations. The needle is inserted into the trigger point to elicit what we call a local twitch response, which should reproduce the patient's familiar pain. This gets the trigger point to release via various mechanisms that are the subject of ongoing research. Since I became certified in dry needling 6 years ago, I have experienced amazing results from my patients. It has been a great tool to have in my toolbox. Interested in talking more about dry needling and how it might be able to help you? In need of physical therapy but not interested in dry needling? I have many other tools in my toolbox that are very effective. Please check out my website at www.neighborhoodphysicaltherapydecatur.com, and contact me via email at [email protected] or call me at (404)578-5826. Please invite your friends to like my page and share it as well with all of your friends.

Did you know that if you have a musculoskeletal issue, you can come and see me without seeing a doctor first? As of July of this year, our state physical therapy practice act has now changed to allow me to see a patient for 8 visits, or 21 days (whichever comes first), before requiring a referral from a "practitioner of the healing arts." This can save you considerable time and money, and spare you unnecessary diagnostic testing. So if you have something that is nagging you and you've been putting off going to the doctor, come and see me instead! Click on my website for contact info, or send me a private message via Facebook.

Thank you so much for your support! It would be a big help if you could take a moment to click on Neighborhood Physical Therapy and then from there click on "Invite Friends to like this page". Invite anyone in the ATL area that you think could benefit or may be interested in my services. This is different than sharing (which also helps), I've just learned!

Welcome to Neighborhood Physical Therapy! I am excited to finally be able to venture out on my own. After 15 years of working for other people, I can now say that I work for myself! I have my own space now in which to provide personalized and quality care to my patients. Please check out my website (which is still a bit of a work in progress and may be updated on a daily basis for a while). I would love it if you would "like" my business page and share it with your Facebook friends. I am trying to get the word out that I am here and ready for business. And if you have any friends, relatives, or neighbors who may be in need of physical therapy, I would LOVE a referral! They can find my contact information on my website.
