Throughout the years there have been many days that have changed the course of history for America. 19 year ago --- we were forever changed. We watched in horror as another country killed our fellow countrymen --- friends, family, mothers, brothers, fathers, sisters --- Today, we stop and remember those who died, and those who so fiercely fought on the frontline to help. We remember our military who fight for us EVERY day, both on home and international soil. May we truly never forget!

ADDICTION FACTS: Tobacco use (nicotine), impacts the central nervous system and negatively affects your mental processes. Smoking is not only bad for your physical health, but can do tremendous harm to your mental and emotional well-being. Many people smoke in order to cope with mental and emotional challenges, yet they are actually worsening their problems.

The Belk Charity Day sale fundraiser provides a large percentage of our revenue each year. Due to COVID-19 we lost the Spring Charity Day sale, but the Fall sale is back and it's even better! Buy a $5 ticket and the coupon is worth $10 (in addition to great savings October 9-11). Greater savings over more days! We will be selling in store, but you can purchase yours by calling 478-284-1422. We can take credit and debit cards.

Many people misuse drugs and alcohol in order to "self-medicate" their underlying emotional and mental health issues. While they believe the drugs are helping them the reality is they only increase and worsen emotional and mental health problems.

WHY DOES THE ADDICT CONTINUE TO ABUSE DRUGS EVEN IF HE/SHE WANTS TO QUIT: Often the addict will continue to misuse drugs or other harmful behaviors even though it is no longer pleasurable. At this point we would say that the person is trapped. He wants to quit but he can’t. Why? Dopamine is a tricky neurotransmitter in the brain. While dopamine is often thought of is the pleasure chemical in the brain, it is also the wanting chemical in the brain. It drives us to want things, even if we might not like them. When you think about it, you might not actually like going to work, but your Dopamine causes you to want to go in order to meet your financial needs. Dopamine, on a very basic level is intended for our survival and our pleasure.
