On January 19, the greatest cheerleader our Association has ever known gained his Heavenly reward. Bob Bagley, Bro. Bob to so many of us, was a great advocate of the gospel and of education. His heart was for our people, especially our young people, to continue their education at our Georgia Baptist Colleges. One of the things of which he was so very proud was the opportunity to serve on the Board of Trustees at Shorter University (his signature appearing on every diploma f...or some years, including his grandson Collin’s). With this love of higher education in mind, and my own inclinations to further that cause, Bro. Darey has allowed me to launch the 2021 Rev. Bob Bagley Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship will be awarded annually to high school seniors who are (1) members of a church in the Conasauga Baptist Association and (2) have been accepted or plan to attend one of our three Georgia Baptist Colleges (Shorter, Truett-McConnel, or Brewton-Parker). Numbers and amount of each scholarship may vary from year to year, based on funding, applicant need, and interest shown. The current plan for funding will be for the money to come from the General Fund of the Association. The application process will be done online (your kids will know all about how to complete a Google Form), and the link is provided below. For convenience, we will also post this link to the Associational Website and Facebook pages. As I shared in my phone call with Ms. Evelyn when I shared this idea with her, I can just almost hear Bro Bob saying well if my name can help one of our kids get to one of our schools, then I’m for it! I look forward to honoring Bob’s memory in this way, and indeed helping a student further their education at one of our Georgia Baptist schools. Today, volunteers and donations from several area churches came together to share love and gratitude for the workers at Hamilton Medical Center's Covid-19 Unit.... "Blessing Bags" were created from an insulated lunchbox that was filled with all sorts of snacks and goodies topped off with a $10 Amazon gift card for the 200 people who have been on the front lines this past 12 months trying to keep our community safe and healthy! A big thank you especially to the volunteers and donors from Macedonia Baptist Church in Dawnville, Tunnel Hill United Methodist Church, and Tunnel Hill First Baptist Church in Tunnel Hill, and Salem Baptist Church in Dalton.

The 2021 Financial Compliance and Giving Seminar will be held at Salem Baptist Church, 1448 Pleasant Grove Drive, Dalton on Thursday, March 25th, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Pastors, Treasurers, Deacons, Church Leadership are all invited to attend this very informative meeting. The NOBTS Certificate Class will begin Tuesday, March 16th, 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. each night for eight weeks. This is a great way to get started on your seminary degree or just take some classes to further your education. If you have questions, you may call the Associational Office at 706-226-2129.
