They are the most useful s...nake that you can get in your backyard. They not only eat venomous snakes but also rat frogs lizards mice and insects. So if you get startled by one of these Beauties just walk away it will happily remove itself from your line of vision. See more

Please do not spray insecticide to kill them or call 911, dear Lord! They are a GREAT source of protein for Black Bears! We are mystified. Is it people that are... not or have not been situationally aware, EVER, of the flora or fauna around them their entire lives? Is it people moving from wherever [deserts, cities, the Arctic circle] to our suburbs and rural areas? Cicadas are all over the world and mentioned throughout literature through the ages. I remember as a child of 3 - 5 years of age my Mother showing me their discarded exo-skeletons still clinging to the Oak trees in our front yard. I played with them because I thought they were cool looking and little monsters. My wife said they would use watercolor paint and paint the discarded exo-skeletons, which I thought was a really neat idea, oh by the way. Our little Brody needs rescue! He’s just too young to be kept in a kennel. Brody has a gorgeous coat. He has puppy energy and gets excited and starts jumping an...d some nipping but one of our male volunteers, KenandDeborah Williams, has been working with him and he’s responding really well. You can just see that he wants to learn and wants to please but has not had anyone to work with him before. Video of Brody in the comments.
