We will be remembering Bailee Lauersdorf with a simple, candlelight service on the front steps of Northeast Baptist Church on Saturday, April 3, at 8:00 p.m. It's the evening before Easter, a very appropriate time. Bailee poured her heart into the children and young people of this church. 4046 Chamblee Tucker Rd, Atlanta.

A message from Zachary Lauersdorf, former associate pastor of Northeast Baptist: Last Friday, Bailee suffered a stroke. After a weekend at the hospital, she came home on Monday afternoon with a list of follow up doctors’ appointments. I took a couple of days off from work to spend time at home with her. Yesterday morning, she woke up ten minutes before my alarm was set to go off, complaining of a migraine. I kept an ear on her as she went to the kitchen to make breakfast. Sh...e sounded like she was having trouble, and when I got up to check on her, discovered she was having more stroke-like symptoms. I called 911. Between my calling 911 and EMS arrival, Bailee fell into what I can only describe as a deep sleep. Shortly after her arrival at the hospital, my worst fears were confirmed; she had suffered a brain bleed, a complication of her initial stroke and subsequent treatment. Yesterday afternoon, neurology confirmed that there was no blood flow going to Bailee’s brain, meaning that she was, for all intents and purposes, brain dead. This evening, after a follow up bedside test to confirm brain death, I, with the support of our family and friends, made the decision to proceed with fulfilling Bailee’s wishes to be an organ donor. Never in my life has the thought of being a widower at 29 ever crossed my mind. My heart is broken. My world is spinning. Nothing makes sense. I love you, Bailee. Forever and a week and a day until Christmas until Heaven. We’ll see each other again.
