Furniture. A lot of times we don’t think too much about people needing furniture, but if you’re a single mom or dad who’s lost their home or a homeless vet who’s struggling to get back on their feet, furniture can help make a place feel like home. When Tonya Walker asked God to help her figure out what her purpose was, He showed her it was creating a place that could help someone have home again with furniture (and her husband John just jumped right in with her). Hope by De...sign donates furniture, home goods, house wares and linens to those in need who just need help making a home feel like home. They are a 501c3 and are always accepting volunteers to load and unload furniture, working at the thrift store and delivering furniture to its new home! We love your heart for people and that you were listening to this call on your life! Thank you for speaking with us! We loved having Kristen Cook and Jimmy Lane come talk to us about the Diversity and Inclusion Community Initiative, One Forsyth, that the Chamber of Commerce has been working on over the last year or so. Kristen and Jimmy shared their vision of making people from all backgrounds of life feel like Forsyth County is a great fit for them and their families to live and work! Some of the events they had planned for last year when they originally kicked off the initiative had to ...be cancelled due to Covid but they are hoping to start those soon and get a lot of involvement from our community! FoCo is an amazing place to live and work and by opening our area up to the beautiful attributes that come from having a diverse community, it can only get better! Thank y’all so much for speaking to us, we can’t wait to see y’all do great things for our town! See more

Most of us have, in some way or another, been directly affected by addiction. So many families have someone they love that is trapped in its horrible grip. Sadly, so many parents are seeing their teenagers getting trapped in those grips and wish they had somewhere local that they could seek help for them. Let us introduce you to Victoria Ray, head counselor of Georgia’s FullCircle Program. Victoria joined us today to talk about this amazing program that is touching the lives... of our youth and helping them break the bondage of addiction. She told us a little bit of her own recovery story and how it has brought her full circle to a place where God is using her to be a light in the darkness for others. Victoria, you have such amazing things ahead for you, and this program is just one of them. Thank you for using your own voice and to help others find theirs! We loved having you speak to us! If you or someone you love has had to deal with addiction then you understand how important staying connected is once in recovery. Bill Whitney, Executive Director for The Connection Forsyth, came to speak to us about what that has looked like in the middle of lockdowns due to COVID. Although it has been challenging to say the least, they have seen the number of free peer-led relapse prevention hours delivered rise 400%! Since the March lockdowns, they haven’t missed a meetin...g because they opened their virtual doors and have been holding virtual meetings and events.... We are so glad that Forsyth County has a place where recovery is priority and people can connect with each other! Bill-thank you for speaking with us and for sharing your heart with us about the importance of staying connected. Sometimes when we hear the acronym GDOT our first instinct is to roll our eyes and complain; let’s be honest, we’ve all done it. However, when Jason Dykes the District Traffic Engineer for the Northeast District talked to us about some of the upcoming projects and told us how they make the decisions on what type of traffic intersections to put up, it answered a lot of questions we all had. When Jason gets to work in the morning, one of the first things he sees is a list of th...e type of accidents that occur and who may have been harmed in them. It makes him and the other engineers strive to make the best intersection and roadway decisions they can because they want to help reduce the number of names on that list. He talked to us about the upcoming exit 18 and we were able to see some very cool round about sketches and how they work. Jason, you have a hard job and one where you probably don’t hear thank you very much but we want you to know that we appreciate you and the job you’re doing! Safer roadways are always a blessing even if we don’t realize it while it’s being done. Thank you for coming and speaking with us! See more
