Congratulations to Jim Walters on recently being awarded the Distinguished Citizen Award from the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce. He is a community advocate in every way possible and this is a well-deserved recognition. Thank you Jim for being a champion of philanthropy and NGCF!

! & ! These past 5 years can be summarized into 1 word: , . ... , , ! And important to note: 2020 still has a few more months... so those numbers will continue to grow! [2020 Impact Grants reflect a combination of grants from designated NGCF grant funding, the NGCF COVID-19 Relief Fund (www.ngcf.org/COVID19Relief) and community collaborations]

The National Standards for U.S. Community Foundations is an accreditation that represents operational effectiveness to foster excellence in community philanthropy. NGCF first earned this accreditation in 2005 with the additional honor of being the first Foundation in Georgia to achieve this distinction. Not only is it Friday it is also Dr. Mary Gowan's birthday! In 2019 she became the Dean of the UNG - University of North Georgia's Mike Cottrell College of Business and then joined the NGCF board in 2020. We love this quote from her because it also captures what NGCF has the opportunity to do everyday - plant seeds and see them flourish. We appreciate Dr. Gowan's passion for education and commitment to all she does. Please join us in wishing her a happy birthday!

When schools had to close their doors earlier this year, several nonprofits opened their doors even wider. They welcomed in children of first responders, medical front-line workers, and other families who had no childcare options. Not only did they provide a safe and fun place to be - they also kept the students on-track with their school work and learning. We are proud that our COVID-19 relief grants were able to support this important initiative. Learn more about our COVID fund: www.ngcf.org/Covid19Relief
