A unique aspect of yoga is the sense of community one feels when they practice with others. At Authentic Yoga Studio, there is no pressure to be anyone other th...an yourself. We all have flaws but that is what makes us real and authentic. It's all a practice, both on and off the mat. We will see you Saturday at 8AM for Yoga Sweat with Jess. Your first class is free and then only $5 per class after that. Please register at: https://www.schedulicity.com/scheduling/AYSWQR4

We are getting SO excited about our Women's Winter Yoga & Meditation Retreat. It is an all-inclusive retreat running from February 25th to the 28th in the beautiful Appalachian Mountains outside of Asheville, NC. There are still spots available. If you are on the fence about coming, here are some things to consider: 1. You NEED this retreat. We will be practicing yoga and meditation in a peaceful and soul-nourishing setting. Give yourself the gift of getting away for a long ...weekend to recharge. 2. Prices are based per room, not per person. Bring a friend, or two, or five (the Guest House accommodates 6 people!). 3. The food is AMAZING! 4. All common areas will be sanitized throughout the day, including the bathrooms. There is plenty of room to socially distance, too. 5. There are countless hiking trails close to the lodge. Naps and reading by the fire are also encouraged. 6. You will learn the benefits of meditation, how to create a practice of your own, and the numerous ways in which you can incorporate Mindfulness into your life to be happier and more at peace with yourself and the world. Dr. Jess Place is an experienced meditation and Mindfulness teacher who has helped numerous people establish a lasting practice. 7. All the yoga instructors are RYT certified and INCREDIBLE. If you are new to yoga, we will help with alignment to give you the best experience possible. If you are a yoga pro, we can help you take your practice to the next level. Of course, if you don't want to do yoga, you don't have to... it is YOUR retreat. 8. Did we mention is it ALL-INCLUSIVE? You don't have to lift a finger - just focus on YOU. 9. Men, this would be the PERFECT Valentine's gift for the overwhelmed woman in your life. If you have any questions or want more info, please contact Dr. Jess Place at 678-641-3333, [email protected], or FB PM. To register for the retreat, visit: https://www.themindfultoolbox.com/retreats We will see you there!

Mindfulness in the New Year by Jess Place, PhD I am fighting off the urge to set New Year's resolutions this year. The urge is strong, as the practice of setting New Year's resolutions has been ingrained in me since I was little. Shouldn't we all set goals for ourselves to make ourselves better human beings? Isn't that a good thing to do? If you ask me now as a seasoned meditator, I say "No"; when we make New Year's resolutions, we are only setting ourselves up for needless s...uffering. We have all experienced setting New Year's resolutions only to forget about them or realize they were unrealistic goals after only a few days or weeks. Then we beat ourselves up for not being strong or having enough self-control to stick to our resolutions. The stories continue with thoughts of worthlessness, unworthiness, and self-loathing. We believe the stories our mind tells us about ourselves because they MUST be true if we think them, right? By setting New Year's resolutions, we are telling ourselves: I will be happy when I achieve _________, but until then, I am going to suffer. Setting intentions for the New Year, however, is a practice I think everyone should follow. A New Year's intention could be: I will greet everyday with the intention of appreciating the present moment, or: My intention is to practice present moment awareness as much as possible. Practicing Mindfulness means being okay with whatever is going on in the here and now, accepting and experiencing it ALL in the present. I hope you have the happiest year of your life... but maybe just start with making NOW happy, taking it one day, one moment, one breath at a time.
