Dear Miracle League Families, visitors and friends. With the onset of the pandemic, all sports, day camps and social activities were suspended. As of mid-March 2020 we became a QRT, a Quick Response Team, ensuring the families were able to safely shelter in place and still have ready access to typical forms of support and new forms of support associated with Covid. In April 2020 Fulton County entrusted us with significant six figure money to expand the mission of our QRT. W...ith their support, and the support of generous friends, we were able to ensure Special Needs families had a roof over their head, food in the fridge, utilities paid and all critical meds required by the family for specific family members. Sadly, all county funds were exhausted by the end of 2020; however, the QRT still helps in other ways and will continue to do so till the pandemic is over. The good news is that unless we are struck by a wandering asteroid, we are hoping to initiate Summer Day Camps during June & July and fire up the Fall Softball Season in September, 2021. Upcoming vaccination opportunity for adults with Intellectual and developmental disabilities and their caregivers, as well as parents of children with complex medical needs. Located near Atlanta, the Adult Disability Medical Healthcare, Inc. office plans to host a vaccination clinic on Saturday, March 20. Registration is required for eligible people, and you do not have to be an existing patient. This is one of the only clinics that will focus on adults with disabilities and... their caregivers in GA. With much regret the North Metro Miracle League has cancelled the Fall Softball Season. There is just too much uncertainty regarding the virus. The science is confusing and contradictory and so many Miracle League athletes are in in the High Risk category. We cannot bring our athletes together on the field or in the dugout. Masks and social distancing would be impossible, and a weekly influx of volunteers would create a new wave of possible exposure every week. Regretfully we are going to follow Special Olympics Leadership and suspend all Miracle League activities until after Spring Break. There are just too many questions, too many unknowns, for us to push forward in the face of the growing health crisis, especially with the vulnerability levels in the Miracle League demographic. And hopefully in the intervening time we will be better informed so our decisions are based on facts, not random opinions.
