Help us wish Heather Hanson a happy birthday today! We are so thankful she joined us this year as our Administrative Assistant of Finances. Heather also serves our church faithfully behind the scenes in the Worship Ministry every week as well. Thank you, Heather, for all you do to serve the Lord at New Providence and we hope you have a wonderfully blessed birthday!
How can the new covenant be better than the old covenant if you don't have a high priest mediating the covenant between man and God? The answer to this question is that the new covenant does, in fact, have a High Priest that mediates on behalf of men to God, and His name is Jesus! Pastor Brian Moore's sermon titled "The Great High Priest" covered Hebrews 5:1-9. Here are some important reminders to encourage you as you enter a new week serving the Lord wherever He has planted... you: Priests are those who speak to God on behalf of men. As the religious leader of the Israelites, the high priest had to offer a sin offering not only for the sins of the whole congregation, but also for himself. Only the high priest was allowed to enter the Most Holy Place behind the veil to stand before God. After making the sacrifice for himself and the people, he then brought blood into the Holy of Holies and sprinkled it on the Mercy Seat (God's throne). Without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sin. The high priest would have to come back year after year to repeat this process. This service is known as The Day of Atonement (or Yom Kippur). A Great High Priest, who could make a one time sacrifice for all people, is absolutely necessary, and Jesus is the Great High Priest. We can now come boldly to God's throne ourselves because of the sufficiency of the work of our Great High Priest, Jesus Christ, and what He accomplished on the cross. We loved the analogy Pastor Brian gave when he said that Jesus is like the puzzle piece that fits perfectly between God and man. There is no Other who could connect us to a most Holy God. If you'd like to study more about how Jesus is the Great High Priest above all other priests, we would encourage you to spend time reading Hebrews 4:14-10:39.

I was glad when they said to me, "Let us go into the house of the Lord." - Psalm 122:1 Who else is glad to gather in the house of the Lord tomorrow?... You can gather with us online or in-person. All of our services are available at npbcsmarr.org/watch as well.
TODAY’S DAILY DISCIPLESHIP GUIDE During this week’s daily devotions, we have learned and discussed the Lord’s Supper. We learned that the Lord’s Supper anticipates a kingdom in the future (Luke 22:14-18), remembers a sacrifice in the past (Luke 22:19), and pictures a new covenant in the present (Luke 22:20-23). At New Providence, we believe the Lord’s Supper is a symbolic act of worship for believers in Jesus Christ to partake regularly. The bread represents the body of Christ while the juice represents the blood of Christ, which was sacrificed on the cross for all who will believe and place their trust in Him as their personal Lord and Savior. We would love for you to join us for our next Lord’s Supper on December 13!
"Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms." - James 5: 13 What songs have been an encouragement to you lately and how can we pray for you today? Submit confidential prayer requests at npbcsmarr.org/prayer.
