From all my years as a Corporate Trainer and Speaker....I heard everyday....Says a lot about the church....as well....just say’n...

So I wanted to take a minute to share something that I feel like many need to hear this morning. Today we wake up to see the devastation and destruction of Michael in the Gulf Coast of Panama City, PCB and Mexico Beach....no doubt where many of us have spent countless beach vacation trips and wonderful times. I saw a video of Edgewater Resort and thought about how many times Lorraine and I stood or sat on that pool deck over the years...and walked those stairs to the beach an...d sat on the balconies overlooking the gulf. As I shared with someone this morning....just simply speechless! Yet...something came to my memory as I sat here this morning drinking my coffee that truly feel is for someone today. I cannot help but think about the number of times I have used an illustration, that at the time...I was simply figuratively speaking and this morning it became so real. I read someone’s comments that went something like this...I’m going to take down all my pine trees and replace them with Palm Trees as that is the only thing that survived much of the devastation over night. As I viewed many of the videos recorded from security cameras...it was amazing to watch those trees being whipped and blown and the tops of the palm trees so violently shaken in 155 mph winds that literally toppled 65,000 lbs train cars...and not just one...but a whole line of them on their side! Yet.....this morning....the Palm Tree is still there...not bent over or uprooted like so many of the other evergreens in that area. Some Palm prawns are littered...but the tree still stands. Have you ever wondered why? Many of us, when we face the storms of life are uprooted and thrown about like many of the trees we see in the videos or when we have a storm around our homes....the reason being..this... a Palm Tree has a root system that runs straight down deep into the ground as opposed to a Pine Tree that has a very shallow root system that many times run along the top of the ground. Therefore, when the least little storm comes....it is uprooted and tossed away.....yet the Palm Tree....when the wind stops.....stands back up straight and tall....a few leaves may be gone....but the tree remains very simply because of its root system....deep in the ground. Have you ever wondered why some fall apart and away....when the least storm of life blows their way....and others at the worst possible times in their lives....never seem to budge, sway or move.....you see it all has to do with their ROOT SYSTEM. Those rooted deep in the word of God and their relationship...with Him....never uprooted...they may sway....loose a little hair....but stand strong....because of their roots deep in God’s word. They stand on Deuteronomy 3:16...Be strong and courageous....Hebrews 13:5....I will never leave or forsake you.... How strong is your root system this morning? Just something for you to think about.
