Wednesday, February 9, 2022 Joy in Jesus! May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.... Romans 15:13, NKJV Joy is supremely different than happiness. Happiness, which is an American’s inalienable right to pursue, seems to depend more on circumstances or things or people or feelings. Joy is independent of everything except our relationship with God. Someone has defined joy as peace dancing! And Jesus, with eyes that must have sparkled in anticipation of the blessing that His beloved friends were going to receive, explained, I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete (John 15:11, NIV). One of the hallmarks of those who are immersed in a love relationship with Jesus and His Father, which they express through abiding obedience, is joy! Joy in Jesus! Joy in living our lives for Him! Joy in abiding . . . and obeying! Joy that is complete, with nothing that needs to be added to make it more so. Blessings,

God is bigger than we think and greater than we think. Nothing is beyond His ability, whether it’s a problem to solve, a marriage to reconcile, a memory to heal, a guilty conscience to cleanse, a sin to forgive, a business to save, a budget to stretch, another mouth to feed, or anything else we could name. All are within His power to fix. He is more than able to sustain your marriage and your ministry, your faith and your finances, your hope and your health. Blessings,

Monday, May 17, 2021 More Consistency "Abide in Me, and I in you." John 15:4, NKJV... The branch is totally, absolutely, completely dependent upon the Vine, not only for fruit, but for life. Whether because of pride or fear or some other reason, we as branches seem to struggle with being totally dependent on the Vine. In what areas of your life are you acting independently of the Vine? I can usually determine these areas by just checking my prayer life. The items I have not prayed about-the people and problems, the relationships and responsibilities, the activities and attitudes, the schedules and stress, the entertainment and exercise, the pleasures and pastimes, the decisions and dreams, the desires and diets, anything and everythingare those areas of my life where I am not dependent upon Him. If my heart’s cry is for more of His fruitfulness, then one of the goals of my life needs to be more consistency in my dependency. Would you make this your goal, too? Blessings,

Sunday, May 16, 2021 The Pearly Gates The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. Revelation 21:21, NIV... Pearls are formed when a small grain of sand becomes embedded in an oyster, irritating it. To soften the irritation, the oyster coats the grain of sand with a smooth layer of what is called mother of pearl. As long as the oyster can feel the irritation, it continues to coat the sand with layers of pearl. What kind of irritation would have been necessary to form the pearls that make up the gates to our heavenly city when they are so large they can fit into a wall that is two hundred feet thick?! It must have been more than just irritation. It must have been horrendous, severe suffering! I wonder . . . are the pearls a reminder, every time you and I enter My Father’s House, that we enter only because of the intense suffering and death of God’s Son? Do those pearly gates reflect the Cross of Jesus Christ? Blessings,

Saturday, May 15, 2021 Places of Spiritual Benefit These commandments . . . are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home. Deuteronomy 6:6-7, NIV... Our homes are to be places of moral, spiritual, social, emotional, and physical benefit. If you think that what you do within the privacy of your own home is your own business, think again! God has made it His business, and you and I will experience serious consequences if we refuse to follow His directions for our homes. Destruction and brokenness are all around us today. It is a brokenness that is directly related to denying our children the benefit of moral, spiritual, emotional, and social instruction. If we do not instruct our children about God and His Manufacturer’s directions for living, they will develop their own standards and values based on what they feel, what they think, what their friends are doing, and what seems to work-and in one generation we will see the chaos and confusion that result from their guessing their way through life. God has given us directions telling us how to live a life that works. If we are to prevent brokenness, our homes should be places of moral and spiritual benefit to those living within them. Friday, May 14, 2021 God Knows You and Me He knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust.... Psalm 103:14, NIV God will never expect more from me than the Holy Spirit will do in and through me if I allow Him the freedom. What a blessed relief to be reminded that God knows me. In fact, He knows me so well He understands that apart from Him I can do nothing. I don’t have to prove myself to God. I don’t have to worry about disappointing God. I don’t have to earn His respect. I don’t have to deserve His blessings. I don’t have to work hard to be accepted. I don’t have to produce a quota. I don’t have to be successful. He created me in the first place. He knows how [I] am formed, he remembers that [I] am dust. I am just a little dust person infused with the very breath of God! Blessings,

Thursday, May 13, 2021 Receive What You Ask For I tell you the truth, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. John 16:23, NIV... Jesus said we are to ask if we want to receive. My mother encouraged me as a little girl to pray specifically. She bought me a small white leather notebook, and in it I carefully recorded my requests. Then, at her instruction, I left a blank line under each one so I could record the date of the answer. In the front of the little book, she penned these words: Thou art coming to a King, Large petitions with thee bring, For His grace and power are such, None can ever ask too much! So feel free to ask! But leave a blank space under your request so you can record the answer! Because Jesus said if we ask we will receive. Blessings,
