Oglethorpe University sophomore Kharynton Beggs ’23 was awarded the 2021 Otis M. Jackson Scholarship from the Buckhead Rotary Foundation. The merit-based scholarship is offered annually to eligible Oglethorpe students.

Oglethorpe's Cousins Center for Science and Innovation was presented with an Honor Award for Design in the category of Renovation/Restoration by AIA Georgia last week! The Cousins Center was designed by Cooper Carry - The Center for Connective Architecture.
This fall, Oglethorpe’s Office of Student Involvement launched the Multicultural Leadership Institute, an initiative dedicated to cultivating and engaging diverse student leaders at Oglethorpe University. Through the institute, students have participated in discussions covering a variety of professional development topics while learning how to create a culture of advocacy and success for others.
Oglethorpe film student Mia D’Zerrea Taylor '21 was awarded the 2020 Georgia Power Rising Star Scholarship, recognizing a college student pursuing film studies and preparing for a career in the film industry.

"Cultivating Brave Spaces" is an original show exploring the thoughts and feelings of younger generations during the current period of social unrest in America. Written by 11 Oglethorpe students, the play uses Jesmyn Ward’s "The Fire This Time" as inspiration to tell a story about what it means to be yourself. The Oglethorpe University Theatre will present live, virtual performances November 12-14.

As part of her Girl Scouts Gold Award project, Randi Parks ’24 recently hosted an event to explore the issue of voter suppression. Her Gold Award project, A Nation’s Guide to Diversity and Inclusion, seeks to help both students and adults learn ways to include diversity and inclusion in everyday life.

Students from all majors and programs are invited to participate in the upcoming Hammack School of Business case competition. Students will form teams of 3-4 and work together to come up with a solution to a real-life business challenge. Each member of the winning team will receive a $50 Visa gift card!
