Cathi Jones has been wheelchair-bound for 3 years and has made HUGE strides with her astounding progress. This week Cathi and her trainer Boumi Johnston were able to amp up her core training by having her work on sit ups. Cathi's optimistic attitude is what has enabled her to progress as she has. She goes to physical therapy twice a week and sees her trainer Boumi 3 times a week at Onelife Fitness in Windermere. Cathi always puts in hard work and is doing amazing! Don't let excuses stop you from living your best life!

Meet Jennifer: "I have always struggled with my weight and I am a foodie at heart! During the COVID quarantine, there were rumors of people being put through a ranking screener and if you were obese you may not qualify for a life saving ventilator. Reading that really snapped a thought in my head- am I REALLY going to let my love of food be a cause for potential death? Am I not valuable because I am so unhealthy? My 6 year old and 3 year old sons need their mother. I had to ...fix this. In mid May when the gyms were opening back up I took a leap of faith and joined. I started with simple cardio on the treadmill. Easy enough right? I told myself if I walked an hour a day and watched what I ate it would come right off, but it didn’t. All of this work, giving up my free time, not eating my favorite foods and the scale was hardly budging. In late July I noticed a sign for ZONE4 and Personal Training. I decided I had nothing to lose so I started with a free trial in ZONE4. Wow! The ZONE4 sessions were so intense and everyone was so fit and lean and I felt miles away from where they were. Now it is the end of October and since I started ZONE4, I have lost 44 pounds!! My knees feel so much better, my legs are tight and I even have defined arm muscles now! I am lifting 25-30 pound dumbbells when before I wasn't even able to lift 10 pounds. My clothes fit much differently, but most of all, my life feels like I have value again. My oldest son tells me all the time how proud of me he is and he can’t wait until he’s old enough to join me! I am so thankful for the ZONE4 group and how encouraging everyone is. Did you know that your body keeps burning calories after a HIIT workout?! The calories your burn post workout are known as Excess Post-exercise Oxygen Consumption (EPOC). This means you continue to burn calories while your body recovers to normal oxygen levels. The more oxygen it takes to restore your body, the more calories you'll burn! ... Your "afterburn" is determined by how hard you work and our HIIT workouts in ZONE4 have been show to produce more EPOC per minute than steady-state cardio workouts. We utilize heart rate monitoring in each ZONE4 session so members can see how hard they are working (or how much harder they need to work! )

Did you know that intense workouts can cause tissue damage at the microlevel? This is why we NEED post-workout carbs! Meet Lisa: "Most of my life I have struggled with my weight. I have been mostly overweight but up and down more times than I can count. For the past five years I have been pretty heavy. I have tons of excuses: I have severe asthma, I put everyone else's needs before my own, I'm an emotional eater...you get the idea. The fact of the matter is that they are just that, excuses. I will be 50 in March of next year. I just decided that I didn't want to look and feel the way I felt ...anymore. I wanted to be fit by 50. I want to be better. I want to be healthier. So around February I really started getting serious. (I have always been in the gym, no matter what my weight). I started taking Zone 4 sessions regularly. I started eating healthy and lifting weights. I was ready to give it all I had. I lost about 15 lbs. and then Covid hit. Everything shut down. I was determined not to let it stop me. So I used quarantine to work hard on ME. I took the virtual Zone 4 sessions at least three times a week. (I love Zone 4 so much because it's work. It's work I don't have to think about. It pushes you to your limits and I needed that push.) I ran, I lifted on the days I didn't take Zone 4 and sometimes on the days I did. I never stopped. And here I am 40lbs down. I have much further to go. I have goals, small ones and big ones. I just know that I am all in now. I am ready to be the best me I can be. I truly believe that I have figured out what it takes for ME to continue to succeed with my health/weight loss journey. That is BALANCE. I still live my life. I still enjoy food. I just practice balance. I won't give up. AND I am super thankful to my Onelife Fitness and Zone 4 family for supporting me along the way. Sometimes when they didn't even realize they were.
