Welcome Picnic Saturday, Sept. 11th 10am - 1pm Hampton Ridge Pool Pavilion... It's time for us to get together and meet our newest pack members. We've added 9 new scouts to our pack. Come and get to know them, while reconnecting with old friends. We realize your day might be full of sports and other commitments, so feel free to stop by for as little or as long as you can. The pool is closed for the season, but we will be doing a scout favorite activity and the playground should be available for extra entertainment. We will be grilling hot dogs and hamburgers, so just plan on bringing a side dish to share. Hope to see you Saturday! Water Wars Saturday, August 7th 9:00am - 12pm Join us at the Davis field for a fun morning of rocket launching and water balloon games. We are hoping to have new families attend, so be ready to see some new faces. Please have your scout bring a 2 Liter bottle, a package of self-sealing water balloons, and wear a bathing suit and... closed-toe water shoes. Hope to see you there! As always, bring a friend who is interested in scouting. SUMMER ADVENTURES CONTINUE . Shoot the Hooch!! Saturday, July 24th at 8:00AM Helen, GA... 685 Brucken Strasse, Helen, GA 30545 Pack 1417 will be shooting the Hooch as a group this year! We will leave as a group from the Davis Elementary parking lot at 8:00 AM to drive to Helen, GA (approx 1.5 hours away). Please let me know if you plan on coming. There is a reduced rate if we get 20 people, but I have to book ahead. Published rates are $13 per person, including a tube and a bus ride to the start point. Carpooling is strongly recommended as that area can be crowded in the summer. There is free parking at this site. We'd like to ask all parents to complete the Safety Afloat training. This takes about 25 minutes. Training can be found on my.scouting.org in the learning center course catalog. When completed, please e-mail a copy of your certification to [email protected] Siblings and friends are welcomed and encouraged, but please be aware of the swimming ability of all children you're bringing. Please don't bring more children than you can supervise! The Hooch is slow-moving, but it is an uncontrolled environment.

The Nintendo Ninjas kicked off their year with their first Den meeting thanks to masks, sanitizer and as much distancing as we could muster!

The Pack Committee voted this evening to reduce the dues for the 2020-2021 program year from $275 per Scout to $175 per Scout. The deficit in Pack income will be taken from our existing Pack funds, as we have a good financial position coming out of last year and can afford to draw down our operating reserve. Dues will still be collected in two payments - $100 due October 1st, and $75 due in January. The bulk of your fall payment is being used to pay for National Scouting du...es, so if you elect to drop out for the fall and return later, please be advised that you will still have to pay your national dues to rejoin in the winter. National dues are pro-rated depending on when in the calendar year you rejoin. We will continue to direct an individual Scout's popcorn proceeds to offset their dues, and the Pack committee will be looking into other fundraising opportunities this year. As always, the Pack can help families in difficult financial positions by offering payment plans to help spread costs over a longer time period. If you are in a dire financial situation, please reach out to me - there may be other ways to help your family afford Scouting this year. We are dedicated to doing our best to make Scouting affordable. Please understand as well that dues may have to go up again next year to cover the gap. I'm sure with better access to popcorn sales next year that structuring Pack dues in this fashion will make Scouting much more affordable and ensure the long-term viability of the pack. This year has been a perfect storm of cost increases to the Pack and unprecedented challenges in terms of fundraising. Thanks for all of your patience! Regards, William Conway
