The Town of Ynot is honored to announce they will have crosses with each solider that has died while fighting for our country displayed for Memorial Day, Monday..., May 31, 2021 from 9 Am until dusk. We are located at 586 Benson Road, Dallas, GA, 30132. Everyone is welcome to come by and pay your respects. I believe our flag is more than just a cloth of ink. It is a university recognized symbol that stands for liberty, and freedom. It is the history of our nation, and it’s marked by the blood of those who died defending it ~ John Thune

High Shoals Baptist church. John Terrell Finch born 1832. Moved to Van Wert in 1852 then settled in Paulding near Raccoon creek. He served in Phillips Legion C...SA. His children were William, Savannah, Oliver, Henry, and Martha. Wife was Hepsey Farmer daughter of Jordan Farmer. Oliver married Mollie Durham and his son Terrell married Dellie Mae Holland. Her dad Bill Holland married Fannie Noland. Bill Holland's parents were Henry Holland and Sarah Carlton. The Carlton family runs a big farm in Rockmart. My middle name Carlton was from that family. My grandfather Ray W. Finch married Altha Camp a descendant of Sherwood Camp first preacher at Shady Grove Baptist. Burrell Camp his son was preacher at High Shoals baptist for 50 years. These families were pioneers in Paulding county along with the Elsberry family. Lindsey Elsberry was a veteran of War of 1812 and a surveyor who settled in Paulding with his large family. Many thanks to Hubert Holland and Alfred Finch for helping preserve our history. See more

"Paulding New Era", March 1, 1883.
City of Dallas preparing for Main Street to be paved, mid 30s looking south at Spring Street.
In 1882, William Breckenridge began publishing the Paulding New Era in Dallas, Georgia, the same year the first railroad ran through the city. It was the most successful newspaper in Paulding County until the early 1890s, when it faced competition from the Populist Party-alligned Dallas Herald. The New Era emerged victorious, however, as the Herald eventually ceased publication due to the decline of the Populist movement. The paper was retitled the New Era for a short time before becoming the Dallas New Era in 1898 and has retained that title into the present. It remains the oldest business in Dallas. -from Sammy Graham
