Dunwoody Police Department THEY’RE HERE! Our new K9 Unit is officially active! K9 Ranger and K9 Hank arrived in Dunwoody on Monday after completing their intense training in North Carolina. Ranger is a 1 year-old Dutch Shepherd originally from Poland and has been assigned to Officer Dylan Cavin. Hank is a 2-year-old Belgian Malinois originally from Poland and is assigned to Officer Kasey Martin. Both dogs are trained and certified and will be used to detect illegal narcotic...s, conduct article searches, and assist in the search of missing persons or suspects. A big THANK YOU goes out to the Dunwoody community for voting to name Hank and Ranger in October of 2020. We also want to thank the following individuals and organizations for playing a big part in making this happen: The Clipper Foundation; K-9 Aftermath Services LLC; Dunwoody Animal Medical Center (Dr. Johnson); Hollywood Feed; The PawStand; Vest N PDP Police Dog Protection K-9 Vests (Susie Jean) and Highland Canine Training, LLC. We would also like to specially recognize the Dunwoody Police Foundation for providing funds to purchase the K-9's and covering the cost of their training. The Rotary Club of Dunwoody is also recognized for making a substantial donation to the Dunwoody Police Foundation. We are excited to have Ranger and Hank and can’t wait for all of you to meet them in the future, once pandemic restrictions allow! Photo Credit: Dana Leigh Photography See more

Sheriff Greg Countryman Today, the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office honored the deputies involved in the house fire incident on January 27th with Meritorious Awards. The deputies investigated the smoke, called in the house fire, worked to evacuate the area and assisted in preventing the fire from spreading to adjoining yards. Wonderful job by Sgt. Louie Abney, Corporal Jayson Martin and Deputy Christopher Bryant! I want to thank you for your service, dedication and bravery. Working together, we accomplish great things. Always.
