PLEASE SHARE! So important with the holidays coming, and there is much confusion about COVID-19 Quarantine and Isolation rules. Trying to keep it simple... 1)... If you have been DIAGNOSED with COVID-19, ISOLATION is for 10 DAYS. The 10 days begins either when your symptoms began, or if no symptoms, from the day your test swab was performed. 2) If you have been EXPOSED to someone with COVID-19, QUARANTINE is for 14 DAYS (yes 14 days not 10). The 14 days begins whenever your MOST RECENT exposure took place. 3) If you have been EXPOSED, your doctor may recommend a COVID test, usually around day 7-10 after exposure if no symptoms, or sooner if symptoms develop. Testing someone without symptoms sooner than Day 7 is very likely to give a FALSE negative result. And, a negative test at any point does NOT shorten quarantine to less than 14 days. In our own practice, we have absolutely seen symptoms develop on day 11-12 after last exposure. Please contact us if you have specific questions, each situation may be different.
