QUESTION OF THE WEEK: COVID-19 vaccinations have arrived locally, with expanded populations (those 65 and older, and other groups) now eligible to receive them. When you are eligible to take the vaccine, will you take it? Why or why not? We will publish some responses in next week’s edition.

The Pickens County School District has just announced extracurricular activities will continue, with restrictions. Earlier today the district announced schools will be closed this week and in-person students will begin distance learning January 11 due to reasons related to COVID-19 spread. The Pickens County School District has just announced schools will remain closed the remainder of this week due to a variety of reasons related to the spread of COVID-19. Students were originally scheduled to return to school campuses on Wednesday, Jan. 6. On Monday, January 11, traditional students will be expected to participate in distance learning on the It's Learning platform. QUESTION OF THE WEEK: COVID stimulus payments are being sent out now to individuals and families. The $600 payment per qualifying individual and child has been met by mixed reviews, ranging from some who think the amount is not enough, to others who think payments are socialism in America.
