In early September, she went to the Emergency Department because she couldn’t breathe. She was intubated within days and was later placed on ECMO, an advanced kind of life support that takes over lung function, for nearly two months. Long-time Athens resident Julie Massey Jenkins recently donated $100,000 to Piedmont Athens Regional’s new tower in memory of her parents, Juliette and Henry Massey. The hospital has always had a special place in my heart, Jenkins said. I was born there, and it’s the place that cared for both my parents before they passed away. So, Jenkins took the appreciation she felt for her community hospital and put it to work. https://bit.ly/31BAlUT.

Piedmont is committed to keeping patients safe. That's why when you come to one of our hospitals, you'll talk with a screener before you come inside. The screener will take your temperature, ask health screening questions, and make sure you have a mask. We appreciate all of our screeners and their dedication to helping keep everyone safe. #Differencemakers
