Chuck Horton knew he needed open-heart surgery, but driving out of town for that? Forget it. So Piedmont Heart in Athens helped the busy Oconee County commissioner stay close to home. Long-time Athens resident Julie Massey Jenkins recently donated $100,000 to Piedmont Athens Regional’s new tower in memory of her parents, Juliette and Henry Massey. The hospital has always had a special place in my heart, Jenkins said. I was born there, and it’s the place that cared for both my parents before they passed away. #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth is more than a pink ribbon it's personal milestones. After completing radiation for breast cancer, Lisa Childres rang a bell to mark the end of treatment. Her care team "made this difficult time in my life so much easier," she says. Congratulations!
