MEMORIAL DAY 2021

One of our employees from the forest stopped by to warm up in a sunbeam today. Say hello to friendly Mr. Gray Rat Snake! Rat snakes are part of the Genus Pantherophis. Spotting one in the forest is a positive indicator of a healthy ecosystem. If you see a snake, appreciate it for its pretty markings, and all its hard work helping control vermin, insects, and other reptiles. Remember: in the state of Georgia ALL non-venomous snakes are protected by state law and it is il...legal to kill them! Pine Mountain Gold Museum hiking trails are open from sun up to sundown 365 days a year, rain or shine. Our trails range over more than 30 acres of Georgia Pine forest, and mixed-age second growth hardwood forest.
