As a client your counseling experience is fueled by the laws that govern professional counselors' licenses, and right now Representative Belton and the PC COMPACT Legislation HB 395 needs your support. This legislation would allow fully licensed professional counselors to continue to work with patients who move to member states without having to worry about getting a license in that state; this means continuity of care for clients regardless of where life takes them. This w...ill also assist in getting Medicare and Medicaid approval for licensed professional counselors in GA (which means more in network providers for clients to choose from!) To see it for yourself, here is the link to the PC Compact Bill https://www.legis.ga.gov/legislation/59550 Friday, Saturday, Sunday Please email your legislator Why a PC Compact Legislation is so important to you: FIND YOUR Legislator: https://www.legis.ga.gov/find-my-legislator Once on your legislator's website page, just click the email and ask him / her to support HB 395 because.(be brief) BE SURE TO INCLUDE your Address and that you are a Constituent. Thanks for your considerations!

When you or your child are melting down your brain is not operating at its full capacity. There are literally parts of brain... the parts responsible for logic, coherent thought... that are offline so to speak. The first steps to meeting yourself or your child in these moments is to regulate. As adults we have a higher level of functioning that allows us to do it independently if we must (still works best with the help of community!). Kids need an external regulator to reg...ulate most effectively though. So instead of reasoning in these moments jump into partnering with your child through regulating activities. More to come on how to do this next post! #emotionalregulation #childhooddevelopment #childtherapist #childtherapy #playtherapy #playtherapist #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #parentcoaching #parenting101 #adhd #adhdsupport #anxietyrelief #executivefunctioning #coregulation #therapy #therapist #parenttherapy #regulate #childhood

Some days it is simply about getting through the day. When days like this come be gentle with your heart and keep your task list light. Reach out to your support system and give your self grace. This is a powerful reminder from @robyn.gobbel It is so easy to label your child or your parenting efficacy as "good" or "bad" based on the child's behavior, but this is fair too simplistic to be accurate. There are a host of complexities at play behind every behavior. It takes understanding and identifying these unique intricacies to find relief in the difficult moments (and to properly reinforce the positive ones!). #childhooddevelopment... #childtherapist #mentalhealth #therapy #mentalhealthawareness #therapist #grace #behavioralhealth #parentcoaching #parentcoach #parenting101 #parenttherapy #neurobiology #playtherapy #playtherapist #childhood #childtherapy See more

Research has failed to prove that problem behaviors in childhood are connected to a lack of motivation, but yet many behavioralistic parenting strategies operate from this foundation. (They are typically focused on building motivation to reinforce acceptable outcomes) What if you dared to recognize that your child is indeed motivated to do well, but they may be lacking in critical skills that making meeting goals and behaving as requested achievable? Imagine the compassion an...d direction that could emerge from this awareness. For instance, what if you were able to recognize that your child is missing multiple assignments at school not because they want to be difficult but, rather, because they are lagging in these executive functioning skills. It would make partnering with them in effective ways much more likely. Lagging skills come in many forms.... but these are great ones to start with! Therapy helps build the lagging skills and teaches parents to support the progress as well! #childhooddevelopment #parenting101 #parenttherapy #parentcoaching #parentcoach #parents #mentalhealth #executivefunctioning #therapy #childhood #childtherapy #psychology #childpsychology #playtherapy #playtherapist #mentalhealthawareness #anxietyrelief #growth #therapist

Triggers cause us to react quickly to a situation that reminds us of a stressful time. Once triggered we enter into a protective shell where our actions are less intentional. These moments may seem out of character and intense, even abrasive or weak, depending on your own attachment wounds. If left unrecognized they can reak havok in your relationships with family, friends and yourself. If you haven't processed things that are triggering, you go around thinking your triggered... self is your authentic self. It shifts every relationship and environment that you are apart of, but even worse this causes you to disconnect further from yourself. #attachment #attachmentwounds #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #anxiety #depressionawareness #complextrauma #adversechildhoodexperiences #therapy #triggers #triggered #trauma #traumacare #playtalkhealgrow #stress

The first step to healthy parenting is to form a coherent narrative of our own childhood experiences. This reflection time allows us to identify our own attachment wounds which will influence and direct the choices we make as parents with our own children. This knowledge then provides a launching pad for intentional parenting strategies that will create peace within your heart and your home. Reflective parents build whole children... you can do this! #Attachment #parenting101 #parenttherapy #parents #childhooddevelopment #childtherapy #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #healthyparenting #family #familytherapy #playtalkhealgrow #playtherapy #playtherapist #childhood #kids #parenting

This is a powerful reflection that as parents we set the example for how our children will respond to themselves and their world. Expecting them to be "little adults" with independent emotional regulation and emotional intelligence skills is not developmentally appropriate, but letting a child learn from our positive example is. As parents, though, it is important to give ourselves grace too. This is a 24/7 responsibility, and there are going to be moments we get it wrong. It is ok... use those moments to teach your child what reconciliation looks like by accepting responsibility, apologizing and providing authentic connection. #parenting101 #parenting #parents #parenttherapy #therapy #mentalhealth #grace #childhooddevelopment #childtherapist #registeredplaytherapist #playtherapy
