The current House Bill 1620 could change the way aftermarket parts are used in HI, as well as allowing customers and repairers to select and be reimbursed when using OEM parts on a vehicle repair. According to the bill: ...many motor vehicle insurers do not allow insureds to decide whether repairs are made with aftermarket parts or original equipment manufacturer parts, and they may in fact refuse to reimburse insureds for the additional costs of installing original equipment manufacturer parts, even when necessary to restore a vehicle to its pre-collision condition, the bill continues. This practice of the insurance industry has resulted in lawsuits across the nation when aftermarket parts installed in repaired vehicles have failed in subsequent collisions.

Corrosion protection is now more effective, much longer lasting, and cheaper, thanks to the new Zinc Thermal Diffusion technology patented by Termission AG in 2017. Combined with their current E-coat, BASF promises that the infusion of zinc will form a resilient bond with the metal, combining both corrosion protection and enhancement of the metal's physical properties. Check out the full story for yourself below.

Outrage resounds, echoed by body shops across the country... Insurance companies striving for financial gain over the safety of customers, are endangering lives. Cutting corners, they refuse to authorize needed vehicle repairs, or they skimp on the quality. Repairs like this should raise concerns for both the customer's safety and the safety of everyone that comes in contact with that vehicle. All repair options need to be discussed with every customer, especially when sa...fety and insurance coverage issues arise. When forced to perform an incomplete repair, all your bases have to be covered. One way of tackling this is to require that each insurance representative and/or customer to sign a liability waiver agreement on all bypassed/refused repairs. At the end of the day, the customers' concerns and complaints, directed at the insurer, will carry more weight, which makes it much more likely to obtain authorization and compensation for repairs. Court may end up being your last recourse, but keep in mind, when the case has been won, the collision industry will be that much closer to eliminating shoddy, insufficient and improper repairs caused by insurance company negligence. Thanks for the info Billy Walkowiak!
