We are officially nearing the end of this awesome year So for that we say... Happy holiday season Powder Springs As the holidays approach us, please protect everyone around you by social distancing when possible, and remembering to #MaskUp. Also, the holidays are such a fun time for family and friends. Let’s try to keep it that way by remembering to LOCK IT, HIDE IT, or you’ll LOSE IT. You worked hard for that candy and those presents, don’t gift them to a thief. Entering Autos are a crime of opportunity and leaving your car unlocked and valuables in plain sight is the golden ticket, just not from Willy Wonka. Sooo BABY LOCK THEM DOORS, just no need to turn the lights down low, get it?!? #PowderSpringsPolice #LockItorLoseIt #BabyLockThemDoors

PROUD MOMENT ALERT Help us with congratulating some of our awesome officer who received an award for Meritorious Service from the West Cobb Business Association yesterday Here’s a quick run down of why they are so great!... On December 1, 2019 Powder Springs Police responded to a subject armed with a knife call. Officer Davis was one of the first officers to arrive on the scene. Officers were met by a male subject outside the residence in the cold holding an infant child and armed with a knife. The subject was making comments that he wanted to die. The subject had a history of suicidal threats. As Officers began trying to communicate with the male Officer Rook along with K9 Kash began to position officers around the house while Officers Davis and now Sergeant Cheatham continued trying to get the male to release the infant. The male soon released the infant to family members and then held his knife to his throat while saying he was ready to die. As Officer Davis continued speaking with the male Officer Philpot, Sgt. Wright, and Officer Rook took the opportunity to get family to exit the residence through a side door. All occupants of the residence were moved to safety. Officer Davis was able to establish a rapport with the male. Officer Davis was able to engage the male in conversation and keep the male talking while officers were able to get in place so that the male had no escape route. Officer Davis talked with the male subject for over thirty minutes and was finally able to get the male to put the knife down, but the male was still refusing to come off the front porch of the house. Officer Davis continued to talk with the male and was finally able to convince the male to come to the end of the porch where the male subject was taken into custody and transported for a mental health evaluation. Officer Davis showed extreme patience and the utmost professionalism during the interaction. Officer Rook, Officer Davis, Officer Philpot, Sgt Cheatham, and Sgt. Wright worked as a team and were able to bring a volatile situation under control. The male subject was cussing and making threats during the entire altercation. All officers kept their poise and acted professionally through the entire incident. These Officers exhibited maturity and compassion during this stressful interaction and undoubtedly saved the lives of all involved. #PowderSpringsPolice #ProudMoments #MoreThanAJob

We want to send a big warm Thank You to our awesome community partners at Linked UP Church. Yesterday, 9/11, this group of pure awesomeness provided a drive thru style lunch for all of the First Responders in the area to include Police, Fire, EMS and our 911 Dispatchers. We thank them for this wonderful lunch from Jim ‘N Nick’s - Atlanta area and especially on such a somber day as 9/11, it truly warmed our hearts. #PowderSpringsPolice #OneWithOurCommunity
