I think we can all agree that Mr. Chandler is absolutely the best music teacher!
The Sea Turtles are ready for a great day!
Summer Camp Registration Closes Friday - https://mailchi.mp/s/summer-camp-registration-closes-friday
Beautiful weather and so many new things to explore! #adventuresinoutdoorspace
We are currently hiring substitute teachers. Please spread the word and contact Mary Hunter at [email protected] if you are interested in joining our team.
Wishing you and yours peace, love, and joy this Christmas. https://vimeo.com/492650585
I wonder what part of the Christmas story you like best? (Outtakes from this week’s filming!)
Today’s the day! Check in for updates on the platform building happening on the green space this morning.
Check out this great option for Christmas gifts-- gift cards to donate to the charity of your choice (including Second-Ponce, just indicate that your gift should go to the Preschool in the notes to the organization.) There are free $100 gift cards available today, so check it out and spread the love! https://redefinegifting.tisbest.org/
We won’t need quite this much gear for our mornings on the green space, but a thorough answer to the question What will you do when it gets cold?
Listen while they work there’s so much there!
Look, she is dressed up just like me!
Another magical Monday on the green! Writing, singing, dancing, experimenting, exploring, painting, pretending, reading and finding ladybugsall in a day’s work when you’re having #adventuresinoutdoorspace
I thought I would turn into an ice cube but I put socks on my hands and now it is warm and I am so happy! #adventuresinoutdoorspace
A socially distant costume blessing. When I trick or treat, I’m gonna let it shine!
Happy Halloween!
We were thankful to have power today by sad we did not have internet to Zoom in the Turning Twos and Twos Parents for their Halloween parade!
We’ve certainly seen anecdotal evidence of healthier, happier children since we moved outside!
Partner with @secondponce as we up and do our best to defeat hunger and bring a to many awesome faces! #400 #sackandimpact
Alphabet Art: Matching letters, exploring colors and textures, gluing, working together, learning the letters in friends’ names, and creating something beautiful and educational to add to their outdoor classroom.
Focusing on developmentally appropriate pre-reading and emergent writing skills in Preschool sets all children up for success. Typically developing readers have the skills they need to explode the code in Kindergarten and those who need more explicit reading support are identified and given the tools they need to succeed earlier.
The #adventuresinoutdoorspace of a Twos class are always a delight!
Hold it steady so I can make it SO TALL!
October weather is perfect for growing, learning, and playing #adventuresinoutdoorspace
What a great idea!
A few candids of our Toddlers and Turning Twos enjoying the extra outdoor time we are all getting these days. We’ll be adding another class for this age group in January spread the word!
Happy Friday! It was a beautiful day to enjoy some of the outdoor supplies that have been donated this week (and the boxes they came in!)
Thursday Things to Know - https://mailchi.mp/a6ea52c9bffb/thursday-things-to-know
I wonder what you will image and create this weekend?
This week’s Thursday Things to Know includes a link to our Amazon wishlist. Support the Preschool’s #adventuresinoutdoorspace by making a purchase or dropping off your clean and gently used version of an item on the list! https://mailchi.mp/1350c46687d4/thursday-things-to-know
Extended Hours begin tomorrow! www.preschoolatsecondponce.com/extendedhours
The first day is underway!
More #playingintherain to come as we begin our year of outdoor preschool with a very wet but perfectly lovely round of meet the teacher.
Teachers are masked up and hard at work creating spaces for children to learn and thrive this year!
More progress in the fence and some visitors for a picnic on the plaza! Looking forward to welcoming teachers back tomorrow and students on Thursday, August 27.
We are loving being outside! Check out our cool new portable sink.
We’ve been exploring colors this week using some Eric Carle favorites as a starting point.
Another great day of camp!
Two days of children on campus and it has been delightful. This is an excellent group of hand washers and mask wearers!
It’s nice to look up from the computer and see a baby in the fish tank again! Thanks for the (socially distant!) visit, Miss Melissa!
Please take this short 4 question survey to inform our decision making about summer programming.
Happy summer! Thanks to the Preschool parents for organizing a wonderful end of year parade!
3s and Pre-K students: We hope you will make something beautiful to add to our Quarantine Quilt. There is a white square of fabric in your supply packet for you to decorate. No fabric paint, no problem! Check out some other possibilities below. We can’t wait to be back together and hang your work up at school!
Almost ready for our drive through supply pick up tomorrow! We’ve been digging for treasures in every nook and cranny of the preschool and saying a prayer for each student by name as we put their packs together.
Good morning! Miss Melissa will be doing this today at 11:15 because technical difficulties kept us from being able to do it yesterday. Hope to see you there! Calling all Science friends! Can you make baking soda paint by mixing baking soda with liquid watercolors or food coloring and water? What does it look like when you paint it on paper? What happens if you spray vinegar on your painting? What if you add vinegar with a paintbrush? What if you add vinegar to the paper and then paint over it with the baking soda paint? If you are curious join me tomorrow for Science! You will need paper towels, plain paper, vinegar, baking soda, liquid water colors or food coloring and water, a paintbrush, a dropper or pipette and a spray bottle if you have one. I will see you there. Miss Melissa
School Wide Special Zoom calls are under way!
While many of these card games are for older students, a deck of cards can be used with preschool students to count, sequence and identify numbers. (Also, play UNO! The deck says 7+ but they can do it with a little help!) https://www.weareteachers.com/math-card-games/
Stories of God at Home is an excellent resource and is currently available at a deep discount.
What stories do you want to hear while we’re at home?
Friends, Mary Hunter here. We’re working on ways to stay virtually connected through the school closure. It’s not ideal, but we are going to do our best. Please consider your family’s plans for the next two weeks in light of the article below.
Several of our teachers are using the last day of winter break for professional development.
Proper hand washing is the best way to prevent the spread of illness!
Thank you to The ASO for a wonderful morning of music and fun!
Happy Valentine's Day from Director Mary Hunter Maxwell: https://www.preschoolatsecondponce.com//the-preschool-has-
