Overnight models and fresh spaghetti models here on Michael. NHC noting he could be a major Hurricane at landfall. VERY IMPORTANT. His fast forward speed will c...ause major effects well inland... possibly into the Carolinas before he exits into the Atlantic. Fast moving means slower weakening. We will see widespread power outages inland... massive surge coastal... and high rains merging with our approaching front. And of course devastating winds associated with a Cat 3 if that verifies. This is the real deal folks. If you are in the 3-day NHC cone take it very seriously. www.spaghettimodels.com / Mike's Weather Page APP / Join our Drunk Donkey Nation: https://www.bonfire.com/drunkdonkey See more

Good morning all; the 4 AM update shows Michael tracking a little further East. Please pay close attention to this weather system. Now is the time to make preparations should we receive impacts here in Glynn County.

Prestige Property Watch of the Golden Isles 08.10.2020

Tropical Storm #Michael will bring a threat of strong winds to southeast Georgia, northeast & north central Florida by midweek. Take the time to gather supplies... and update your family plan now, while the weather is relatively quiet well in advance of the arrival of strong winds & potential power outages later this week. The tropical storm force wind arrival graphics produced by the National Hurricane provide an excellent resource to guide your planning timeline, as all preparations should be completed in advance of the arrival of tropical storm force winds, which are often accompanied by heavy downpours and the potential for isolated tornadoes within the tropical cyclone's outer rain bands. ...DEPRESSION MOVING NORTHWARD... ...HEAVY RAINS WILL SPREAD OVER WESTERN CUBA LATER TODAY AND TONIGHT... A Tropical Storm Warning continues for the Cuban provi...nces of Pinar del Rio and the Isle of Youth, and for the coast of Mexico from Tulum to Cabo Catoche. Tropical storm conditions are expected to first reach the coast within the warning area by this evening or tonight, making outside preparations difficult or dangerous. Interests along the northeastern and central U.S. Gulf coast should monitor the progress of the depression. For storm information specific to your area, please monitor products issued by your national meteorological service. Tropical Depression Fourteen is centered at 10 a.m. CDT about 225 miles (365 km) southwest of the western tip of Cuba. It's moving moving toward the north near 6 mph (9 km/h). On the forecast track, the center will move near the northeastern tip of the Yucatan Peninsula Monday morning, and then across the eastern Gulf of Mexico late Monday through Wednesday morning. Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph (55 km/h) with higher gusts. Strengthening is forecast to occur during the next several days, and the depression is expected to become a tropical storm later today. It will be named "Michael" at that time. The system could become a hurricane by Tuesday night or Wednesday. NHC will issue at intermediate advisory at 1 p.m. CDT and the next complete advisory at 4 p.m. CDT - www.hurricanes.gov

Prestige Property Watch of the Golden Isles 26.09.2020

Tropical Depression #14 has developed just east of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph, and gradual strengthening is forecast th...rough midweek as this developing tropical cyclone generally moves northward. Tropical Depression #14 will likely enter the southeastern Gulf of Mexico by late Monday, and the combination of this cyclone and strong high pressure along the U.S. eastern seaboard will result in strengthening onshore winds along the Atlantic coast. These onshore winds will team up with astronomically high tides due to the new moon to possibly create coastal flooding during times of high tide along the northeast Florida and southeast Georgia coasts from Monday night or early Tuesday through at least Wednesday night. Waves of locally heavy rainfall will likely begin along the Atlantic coast on Monday night or early Tuesday, followed by the outer rain bands of Tropical Depression #14 impacting our region towards midweek. Isolated tornadoes may be possible across our region on Wednesday and Thursday as Tropical Depression #14 makes landfall along the Florida panhandle coast, with the official forecast strengthening this cyclone to hurricane intensity before landfall. Stay tuned to the latest forecast information from the National Hurricane Center, as any eastward shift in the forecast track may increase the threat for stronger winds, flooding rainfall and potential severe weather towards midweek. Invest 97, 98, and 99 are on the NHC map tonight... plus a spot in the middle Atlantic that might be Invest 90 soon. Closest to the US is 98. Came from the fron...t that dissolved Florence. Models have it loop back close to the US next week. Timing with an approaching front will be what we are watching as to when it turns back to the NE. NHC notes conditions somewhat favorable for development next week even though models not showing much at all. Could enhance rains coming along with that front to areas hit by Florence. 99 is by Africa. We have watched many 99's over the years. Could be a lowrider reaching the Lesser Antilles Wed/Thu next week. Looks like it could be organizing. Lots of time to watch. Models not showing much organization... but overall conditions seem possible for it to prove otherwise. And then 97. It is nearest the Lesser Antilles. Was 10% at 1pm... now 60%. Things change fast. Could be a TD/TS soon (11pm will be TD #11). Conditions ahead expected to be unfavorable for more development... but as always we will watch. MJO pulse coming may allow some of these to gain a name. Latest 11am track and key messages from the NHC. Could strengthen some today as it tries to grow wider. Some weakening possible as it nears the coast but they s...tress effects still the same. Florence hasn't had a problem with colder water so am wondering if she actually will or not. Tricky forecast. It is a race when Florence hits the high coming down to block her NW movement. If she gets there first then landfall... drift south along coast... then more inland. If the high gets there first she hangs just off the coast... drifts south... then a landfall for someone maybe in SC before eventually turning west. www.spaghettimodels.com / Mike's Weather Page APP on Android and Apple See more

Good afternoon Glynn County, We have been working closely with our partners at the Georgia Emergency Management Agency and the National Weather Service Office i...n Jacksonville to monitor and track the disturbances in the Atlantic. Florence has weakened to tropical storm status in the central Atlantic. Over the next few days as it moves into much more favorable environmental conditions, it is expected to re-strengthen into a hurricane, and possibly a major hurricane. There are several factors that will determine the eventual track of Florence, keeping the forecast uncertainty quite high. It is expected to continue moving westward over the next 48 hours before likely making a turn towards the north. Model guidance is still very inconsistent at this point, with some showing landfall as far south as the Carolinas and others showing no landfall at all. We encourage you to primarily monitor the forecasts from the National Hurricane Center and the National Weather Service, as opposed to relying on run-to-run model guidance, which has tended to make dramatic changes back and forth. Be especially vigilant on social media, as many popular posts showcase one run of one model and lack the nuance necessary for a reliable forecast. One thing that is becoming increasingly likely is that a large and potentially dangerous swell will impact the immediate coast of Georgia late this weekend into next week. This could result in life-threatening surf and rip currents. The potential impact on beaches and coastal properties would be exacerbated due to the erosion and damage sustained during Hurricanes Matthew and Irma. Our Glynn County Public Works, Recreation Department, and Fire Department Water Rescue Team, are aware of this and are closely monitoring the situation and are taking steps to insure public safety, and protection of assets. If heavy surf and rip currents do impact our area we encourage that everyone stay out of the water for their own safety While speculation should be avoided, there remains a low chance that the Georgia coast will be directly impacted by Florence next week. In addition to the potentially dangerous swell, the key message from the National Hurricane Center at this time is as follows: The risk of other direct impacts associated with Florence along the U.S. East Coast next week has increased. However, there is still very large uncertainty in model forecasts of Florence's track beyond day 5, making it too soon to determine the exact location, magnitude, and timing of these impacts. Please pay very careful attention to forecast updates from the National Hurricane Center and our local National Weather Service office over the weekend. Also, please ensure that any necessary preparatory actions are completed in the coming days. Should we receive additional information we will pass it along to you all. Have a safe and prepared weekend.

...FLORENCE'S WEAKENING APPEARS TO HAVE STOPPED FOR THE MOMENT...RESTRENGTHENING EXPECTED OVER THE WEEKEND... Tropical Storm Florence is centered as of 11 a.m. ...AST/EDT over the Atlantic Ocean about 935 miles (1505 km) east-southeast of Bermuda. It's moving toward the west near 8 mph (13 km/h), and this general motion is expected to continue through Sunday. A west-northwestward motion with an increase in forward speed is forecast over the southwestern Atlantic Ocean early next week. Maximum sustained winds are near 65 mph (100 km/h) with higher gusts. Little change in intensity is expected during the next day or so, but restrengthening is forecast over the weekend. Florence could become a hurricane again by Saturday night or Sunday. Swells generated by Florence will begin to affect Bermuda later today and will reach portions of the U.S. East Coast over the weekend. These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions. Please consult products from your local weather office - www.weather.gov The risk of other direct impacts associated with Florence along the U.S. East Coast next week has increased. However, there is still very large uncertainty in model forecasts of Florence's track beyond day 5, making it too soon to determine the exact location, magnitude, and timing of these impacts. Interests near and along the U.S. East Coast should monitor the progress of Florence through the weekend and ensure they have their hurricane plans in place - https://www.weather.gov/safety/hurricane-plan The next advisory will be issued by NHC at 5 p.m. AST/EDT - www.hurricanes.gov

Prestige Property Watch of the Golden Isles 05.03.2020

...FLORENCE WEAKENS FURTHER... Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 105 mph (165 km/h) with higher gusts - a category 2 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpso...n Hurricane Wind Scale. Additional weakening during the next day or two is forecast. However, Florence is expected to remain a hurricane and likely reintensify over the weekend. The hurricane is centered as of 11 a.m. AST/EDT over the eastern tropical Atlantic Ocean about 1115 miles (1795 km) east-southeast of Bermuda. A turn toward the west-northwest and west with a decrease in forward speed is expected through Saturday. Florence may begin to move faster toward the west-northwest over the western Atlantic early next week. There is still considerable model ensemble spread for Florence's track beyond day 5. Given the large uncertainty at these time ranges, it is far too soon to speculate what, if any, impacts Florence may have on the U.S. East Coast next week. Regardless of Florence's eventual track, large swells emanating from the hurricane will reach Bermuda beginning on Friday and portions of the U.S. East Coast this weekend, resulting in life-threatening surf and rip currents. Please consult products from your local weather office. The next advisory will be issued by NHC at 5 p.m. AST/EDT - www.hurricanes.gov

UPDATE: The advisory has been lifted at this time. This means that the water has been tested again and does not pose a significant danger. Please always be care...ful in the water. The beach is not closed, but swimming in the water is not advised at this time. The picture below shows a warning sign at the beach entrance. PSA: Beach Advisory Issued for South Beach at the Lighthouse on St. Simons Island GLYNN COUNTY, GA The Glynn County Health Department has issued an advisory for South Beach at the Lighthouse (9th Street to the pier) on St. Simons Island. This advisory is only for the area(s) specified above and does not impact any other beaches on the island. There is no way of knowing if going into water that is under advisory will result in illness; however, this beach water advisory is to alert the public of a possible risk of illness associated with water contact. An area under advisory does not mean the beach is closed. Water samples are tested only for enterococcus (pronounced: enterococcus) bacteria which is found in warm blooded animals including humans but also birds, raccoons, deer, dolphins and other wildlife. It is difficult to determine exactly where the bacteria come from but some sources could include animal waste, storm water runoff, or boating waste. When a beach is under advisory, it means that the level of bacteria found in the water is above the Environmental Protection Agency’s recommended standards. The Glynn County Health Department recommends you do not swim or wade in the water in the area(s) under advisory. Fish and other seafood caught from this area should be thoroughly washed with fresh water and thoroughly cooked before eating as should fish or seafood caught from any waters. The area will be retested and the advisory will be lifted when tests show the bacteria levels meet the Environmental Protection Agency’s recommended standards. For more information about beach water testing, go to www.gachd.org and click on the Environmental Health tab at the top of the page.

Morning tropics update. #1 is a weak wave that is working its way towards FL/Gulf early in the week. EURO the only one showing some organization with it consist...ently. Timing for Florida could be Mon/Tue as it nears... then the Gulf midweek. #2 is just a cluster of increasing storms. Surface charts show low pressure so will watch. #3 is the orange area highlighted by the NHC. It is exiting off Africa and might organize into a pretty big storm. Models show it doing the classic recurve in the middle Atlantic. It is coming off high enough to support this and not be a lowrider. #4 are a couple more waves projected to exit Africa after. They have a shot of making it deeper into the Atlantic as they are exiting a bit lower. Way too far away to worry about that is for sure. PSA: Mosquito-borne Virus Activity Detected in Glynn County; Officials Advise Taking Protective Measures GLYNN COUNTY, GA Glynn County Public Works has confir...med that samples of mosquitoes collected in the county have tested positive for West Nile virus (WNV). This indicates that WNV is actively circulating in local mosquito populations this year. No human cases of WNV have been confirmed in any Coastal Health District counties, including Glynn. Glynn County is being actively treated for mosquitoes. Spraying will be conducted on the evenings of July 20, 21, and 22, weather permitting. WNV is transmitted by the bite of infected mosquitoes and can cause mild to serious illness. Mosquitoes that carry the West Nile Virus are more likely to bite during the evening, night, and early morning. The Glynn County Health Department and Glynn County Public Works officials urge residents to take appropriate precautions now and throughout the summer to minimize mosquitoes around their property. One of the most effective ways of preventing mosquito breeding and thus the spread of mosquito-borne viruses is controlling the mosquito population by getting rid of standing water around the home and in the yard. Residents are urged to clean up around their homes, yards, and communities and get rid of unnecessary items that can hold water and turn into mosquito breeding grounds. One way to do this is Tip ‘n Toss. After every rainfall, tip out water in flowerpots, planters, children’s toys, wading pools, buckets, and anything else that may be holding water. If it holds water and you don’t need it (old tires, bottles, cans), toss it out. It’s also a good idea to change water frequently in outdoor pet dishes, change bird bath water at least twice a week, and avoid using saucers under outdoor potted plants. For containers without lids or that are too big to Tip ‘n Toss (garden pools, etc.), use larvicides such as Mosquito Dunks or Mosquito Torpedoes and follow the label instructions. These larvicides will not hurt birds or animals. In addition, clean out gutters, remove piles of leaves, and keep vegetation cut low to prevent landing sites for adult mosquitoes. Georgia Department of Public Health | We Protect Lives. Continued on next page Homeowners associations and neighborhoods, along with city and county governments, are encouraged to sponsor community cleanup days. Residents are always encouraged to follow the 5Ds of mosquito bite prevention: Dusk/Dawn Avoid dusk and dawn activities during the summer when mosquitoes are most active. Dress Wear loose-fitting, long sleeved shirts and pants to reduce the amount of exposed skin. DEET Cover exposed skin with an insect repellent containing the DEET, which is the most effective repellent against mosquito bites. Drain - Empty any containers holding standing water - buckets, barrels, flower pots, tarps - because they are breeding grounds for virus-carrying mosquitoes. We see the most notable precipitation mainly in the eastern half o...f the US, with the highest concentrations in the Southeast along the Gulf Coast and southern Atlantic Coast. Much of this rain will be the result of a passing front during the first part of the week. In the Four Corners region, occasional thunderstorms will remain a possibility due to monsoonal moisture. On this Tuesday night, an area of disturbed weather is located over the western Atlantic Ocean a few hundred miles southeast of Bermuda. It has changed little t...oday, but environmental conditions are gradually forecast to become more conducive for the development of a low pressure system by late this week when the disturbance is expected to be south or southwest of Bermuda. The system is forecast to move generally northward over the weekend and begin interacting with a frontal system on Sunday, which would limit any additional development. Elsewhere, a vigorous tropical wave is producing a concentrated area of showers and thunderstorms over the far eastern tropical Atlantic several hundred miles southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands. Environmental conditions are forecast to be somewhat conducive for gradual development of this disturbance during the next few days while it moves westward to west-northwestward at 15 to 20 mph. By the weekend, however, conditions are expected to become less favorable for tropical cyclone formation. Get the latest on the tropics anytime by visiting the NHC website at www.hurricanes.gov
