#WAYTO Go Erin! Giving us all the feels! Erin is donating because, "Today I'm thinking of my amazingly creative, Armchair Expert obsessed, soccer-coaching, garden-tending, meal-planning, community-minded, fellow caffeine-addicted partner in crime and in life Joshua Podvin. As Ben Folds said, I am the luckiest! In honor of our October 29th wedding anniversary I'm donating $10.29 a month to Project Safe. Friends, who are you thinking of?" Supporting Survivors, as a third party. Do you know someone who is experiencing domestic violence? Here are a few tips on how you can support them. 1.) Study up! "Understanding the dynamics of domestic violence is important when supporting a person in an abusive relationship. Abuse is about power and control; part of maintaining that power and control requires the breaking down of a victim’s self-esteem and sense of self-worth. Leaving the relationship may seem like an easy ...solution, but it’s important to recognize that leaving can be a very dangerous and challenging time for a victim. Many victims do not feel they have a choice; they are tied to their partners due to finances, children, housing, disability, fear or even love." 2.) Tell your loved one that you are concerned This can be a really difficult conversation to have, but you can start by simply saying, I’ve noticed that your partner doesn’t let you go out as much/has been physical with you lately/etc. and I’m concerned about that. Is there anything you want to talk about? 3.) Listen and support their decisions "An abuser is constantly taking away their partner's right to make their own choices...it can be really beneficial to model healthy behaviors for your friend or family member." 4.) Encourage small steps, and help them find options specific to their needs If you've used your knowledge of resources and need more, you can help your loved one locate other options. Athens, GA resources include: Project Safe Hotline: 706-543-3331 Project Safe Textline: 706-765-8019 The Cottage (sexual assault and children's advocacy center): 1-877-363-1912 National resources include: The Hotline: 1-800-799-SAFE 5.) Make sure to take care of yourself, too! It's very easy to put too much responsibility on your shoulders. Our hotline is available 24/7 for emotional support, resource gathering, self-care tips, and anything else you'd like to talk about. #dvam See more

Who Is Sarah Anne Thinking Of? ... "I’m thinking of my mom and donating $9.27 a month to celebrate what would have been her 60th birthday this year.
