That's right! Not all physical therapy is created equal. You've heard us speak about one-on-one care. You've also heard say it does not happen everywhere. Why? The short answer is the more patients you see the more you can collect. Is that the best option though? No. One-on-one care is better for you and your wallet. Of course, this may not be the case for all physician-owned practices but it's the standard for most. This includes the corporate offices and those owned by big hospital systems. Our next post will be addressing the benefits of one-on-one care. We'll also address how you avoid a high-volume practice. Stay tuned! #oneonone #themoreyouknow #PTFirst #TransparencyInHealthcare
Sometimes you just need to reset! It can make a huge difference. Put the phone away, shut the lap top, take a nice walk and regroup.
This! We keep saying it because it's true! We can get you better faster for your orthopedic pain/injury. You CAN see us without a referral! #choosept #ptfirst
Excellent post about chronic pain. This quick read offers great information, but pay close attention to #4-Focus less on the image. In most cases, what's found on the image is NOT the cause of pain. As always, contact a physical therapist! Remember: most patients do not need a referral to get started treating their pain and injuries. #choosept #ptfirst
This is a great way to think about exercise! Read the entire post from @TheSportsPhysio!
Exercise is medicine. People think you need fancy gyms or equipment. You don't. Get moving! It's never too late to start!
To follow up on our stretching video we posted a couple of days ago, we ask, do you want to increase your flexibility? You should rethink "you should stretch" for a flexibility mentality. Sure, stretching can help but not the way most people think. If you want faster results, you should incorporate strength training. That's right! Squats, lunges, bicep curls, you name it. Performing these exercises to end range with good form will increase mobility and flexibility. Want help... with flexibility and strength training? Maybe you've had a setback because of injuries. It's always refreshing to hear a surgeon tell you surgery shouldn't be your first choice! "If you’re told you need back or neck surgery, consider the following: Unless it’s an emergency, spine surgery shouldn’t be your first option. Try physical therapy, chiropractic therapy, yoga, epidural injections and other less invasive options first (as indicated). Sometimes all that’s needed is time and patience.... Ask what innovative technology is your surgeon using to make surgery safer and more effective. It’s always good to get another opinion, especially for complex cases. I encourage my patients to do that. Often, the first chance is the best chance to have a successful spine operation. Make sure it’s a well-informed decision." #choosept #ptfirst https://www.linkedin.com//ali-a-baaj-md-86b029103_neurosur
Resistance training is the closest thing to the fountain of youth that we have." Now that we have your attention lets talk about resistance training. Most adults aren't doing it and you should be, at least twice per week. Why? To summarize, it's REALLY good for you. Building muscle helps you live longer (by a lot), burn fat (and keep it off), reduces the risk of disease, the list goes on and on. You do not need a fancy gym, either. For more info, check out this article. It...'s a long read but has a ton of get information about why you should lift, exercises you can do (at home AND and at the gym), and how to recover. If you have questions about how to start back to exercise, contact us! #getbuff #ChoosePT https://www.nytimes.com//yea/how-to-build-muscle-strength
Stretching: Should you do it before a workout? Not necessarily. Is stretching a cure? (Hint: it is not.) Should it be prescribed as a part of your physical therapy treatment? What do you do if you do want to increase your flexibility or become stronger? Check out this video with Dr. Jake Irwin, PT, DPT as he addresses stretching myths, how it does (or does not incorporate) into physical therapy treatment.
This is a great exercise motto for 2021! Movement helps prevent and heal a lot of orthopedic injuries (think knee pain and back pain.) Need help with learning how to exercise safely? Call a physical therapist! #choosept #ptfirst #getmoving #getbuff
2020. What a year. We'll leave it at that. Everyone stay safe and healthy!
A Doctor of Physical Therapy should be the first person you call when you get hurt! We are experts in diagnosing neuromusculoskeletal injuries. MRIs often show simple signs of aging like bulging disks in people without pain. Why is this a problem? Not only does it cost A LOT more of your time and money, but it also tends to lead to unnecessary surgeries and ineffective injections. Choosing physical therapy first can save you from unnecessary imaging and get you better faste...r! Reminder: Most patients do NOT need a physician referral to receive physical therapy services. #choosept #ptfirst

Hey runners! Expensive footwear does not prevent your running injury. Footwear is also not the cause of your injury either. Some primary causes of running injuries are gait pattern/stride, muscle weaknesses, and not enough recovery. Sure, shoes wear out and can become uncomfortable, but evidence shows it doesn't cause your injury. Get a pair of shoes that work for you. Take your time transitioning into new shoes. If you have chronic pain or injuries, please contact us! We can help!
