When the Georgia Early Education Alliance for Ready Students (GEEARS) needed to transition to virtual programming, the UGA Fanning Institute for Leadership was there to help. The State Botanical Garden of Georgia at UGA's Learning by Leading program has a virtual orientation for interested students this week (1/21). The experiential learning program provides students a combination of leadership skills and real-world experience with education, conservation and horticulture through hands-on projects at the botanical garden. This year's keynote speaker is Hamilton Holmes, Jr., son of Hamilton Holmes, Sr., one of the first Black students to desegregate UGA in 1961, along with Charlayne Hunter-Gault, paving the way for Holmes, Jr. to earn his bachelor’s degree in marketing from the university in 1990. The UGA Carl Vinson Institute of Government's Navigating Fiscal Crisis webinar series is designed to help communities respond to the fiscal crisis resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. "It All Happens Here" is the new tagline for Washington County, which recently completed a community branding process with the UGA Carl Vinson Institute of Government and Archway Partnership.
The Community Branding process from the UGA Carl Vinson Institute of Government helps Georgia communities analyze, design, and ultimately launch their own distinct brand that helps tell their unique story. Colquitt County is the newest municipality to start the process.

The always popular Native Plant Sale from the State Botanical Garden of Georgia at UGA has transitioned online, with new offerings arriving every Friday in October! These old Chero-Cola and hardware store murals had been hidden behind a wall in downtown Hawkinsville for several decades before being revealed again over the summer! Archway Partnership facilitated a partnership with the Lamar Dodd School of Art to restore these historic murals as part of the city's downtown revitalization. https://t.uga.edu/6ph
