Radical Love

It is impossible to fully understand, or appreciate marriage without understanding the context from which it is derived. For far to long we have taken marriage ...out of context. We have humanized marriage, while looking back and tipping our hats at its biblical roots. Like making a cameo appearance to a party that we'd rather not attend, we quickly pony up that God is central to marriage. However, much of the remainder of the conversation and antidotes are hierarchal and gender driven. We have become so proficient in our life depleting marriage mantra that many even in the Church hear predictable scriptures like a fork screeching across an empty plate. No wonder the world finds the voice of the Church on marriage so easy to contend and topple. If marriage is simply about two human beings and hierarchy then understandably some would argue and with legal success, I might add, that any two human beings can form such a union, establish hierarchy and call it marriage. Isn't it time the Church rethink marriage and revise its talking points? I've got some ideas! ~ Kim Moore
