Today is cosmologist Beatrice Tinsley's birthday! During her time earning her Ph.D. at UT- Austin as the only woman in the program she published a paper on groundbreaking research. Her research on how stars age and affect galaxies helped shape theories of what is now known as galaxy evolution. After getting her Ph.D. however she couldn't find permanent work until Yale contacted her. She left her husband and became the first female professor of astronomy at Yale University.

Jordan Chiles was ready to quit gymnastics. She had been passed over for big assignments year after year due to lack of consistency. The environment was toxic, and many in the gymnastics community had written her off. But Simone said, I see you Queen. In 2019, Simone invited Jordan to relocate from Washington to Texas to join the gym that she OWNS- a safe space with a positive environment. When Jordan arrived, the first thing they worked on was not building her skills but instead building her confidence. Two years later, Simone and Jordan are headed to the Olympics together. This is what we mean by lift as you climb. Trophies are nice but the biggest flex is winning together and creating an environment where others thrive too. #realimpact

We have a special story to share along with a lot of gratitude and a birthday shoutout! A couple of weeks ago, we were approached by a special young girl, Noa. Her birthday is in October [today in fact, Happy Birthday Noa!], and for her birthday, she wanted to do a fundraiser to support local organizations and we were one of the lucky picks! From her birthday celebration and fundraising, Noa has donated $350 to Real IMPACT, along with donations to Women in Engineering at Georgia Tech, The Women’s Rights Museum, and the Women’s History Museum. Noa has a heart and passion for advocating for girls fighting through obstacles to accomplish great things. Her top sheroes are Bessie Coleman, Ruby Bridges, Marie Curie, and Mae Jameson. And Noa, you’re one of our sheroes now too! Thank you!
