And hopefully, they grow enough that they need to be potted in a larger container at some point. Here are the steps: - Always pick a container with a drainage hole and just one or two sizes larger than the plant's current container. - Cover the drainage hole with mesh or a broken flower pot shard to keep soil in but allow water to drain. - Use organic all-purpose potting soil with no fertilizers added. - Optional: Add a slow-release fertilizer. - Break up the plant's roots slightly to stimulate new growth. - Plant the plant at the same height, being careful not to plant any deeper, which would cut off oxygen. - Slight press soil around the rootball and water well to extinguish any air bubbles in the soil. These simple steps help a plant from the start and take away some of the worries!
