Under a Strawberry Moon with the Ol Negro Spiritual Hoodrat. I was honored to be asked to officiate the Full Moon Ceremony for my niece. Pictures nor videos wer...e taken, as I know my niece. She’s hella private. It was just a gathering for her, her mother, maternal grandmother and a few of her mother’s close homegirls. We gathered, we built, we taught, we gifted but most importantly we assured my niece that there was a community of women who are her mother figures and we have a close knit circle around her rooting and praying for her. Bless all the wombs, hearts, minds and spirits of the womanchildren. Quite a few of these to do this year. Shout out to all my young nieces and goddaughters. Ever since I was a child, my favorite day of the week was Saturday because my mother was off and she would make me breakfast of my favorites- I was a picky eater: raisin bread, scrambled eggs with cheese, hashbrowns, Gwaltney chicken hot dogs (I wasn’t a fan of any other meat other than these hotdogs) amd griiiiiiiiits. Now when I’m off on a Saturday- which is rare these days because I’m working so much overtime to finish self financing the Real Whole House... I make the same for my children... only vegan now and quinoa mixed into the grits.... and strawberry pancakes for Yummy, pecan peach waffles for Rocky and biscuits for Peaches and Dub because they don’t like fruit in their bread. Today the waterproofing began. The ground was dug up all around to get the dirt off the foundation. As you can see, all that moisture from 10 years was eating at the siding and causing a mold problem in the walls. Chris an’ nem treated the area and will begin laying the plastic tomorrow. Needless to say I was disheartened... but relieved that there was a solution and it’s not terribly expensive. #remodeling #makingsustainabilitydope
