To meet our goal of $2,600, we need 1 person with deep pockets, 26 people with $100 they can part with or 2600 people that can spare a $1. Click on the picture ...to see more details or to donate. Donations are 100% tax deductible. Donate to help rebuild the Liberty Belle B-17 Flying Fortress! (Our First GoFundMe!) We are approaching a major milestone on the fuselage. Currently, we are working to complete the structural box (which is made up of bulkheads 4 and 5 in the front and rear of the bomb bay), plus a compression strut connecting the bulkheads along each side of the bomb bay and the catwalk that serves as the keel and connects the two bulkheads along the centerline of the aircraft. It has been a long, expensive journey for the aircraft's second restoration and we have a lot more work ahead. Our group of dedicated workers and volunteers have been making amazing progress on the rebuild in Douglas, Georgia. This is slowed only by the money needed to speed up our efforts. If she is going to fly again soon, we need to focus on finding more money and getting more people involved. Please visit our website www.libertyfoundation.org and follow our Facebook page Rebuild The Liberty Belle B-17 for updates.

Today on Memorial Day, the Liberty Foundation honors the men and women who have died while serving our great nation. As we reflect on our freedoms, which have b...een paid for in blood, we remember two B-17 crew members who gave the ultimate sacrifice for us in World War II. On 14 February 1945, the original "Liberty Belle" B-17 was heavily damaged during an raid and made a forced landing in Belgium. On this day, crewmembers Howard K. Brooks (Radio Operator) and John W. Cullen (waist gunner) both gave their lives and paid the ultimate sacrifice. These two unknown American heroes are out of the over 400,000 US military members that never returned in WWII. Thank you to all serve and have served our U.S. military.
