Reading Group Closed 9/27/17

Over the course of the last year, many of us have committed to take more Compassionate Action - acting in support of our sangha, our fellow beings, and the world as a whole. Below is an opportunity brought by a friend of the sangha. In this case, you can assist a homeless family by providing supervision or food as they take shelter for a week in a local church. This is not a Red Clay-associated opportunity, and we do not have a relationship with the Family Promise association... or with Pilgrimage United Church of Christ in Marietta, GA. However, if you are looking for a personal way to help others, it may suit you. Contact Alison Gunnels for more information. -------------- [We are] definitely struggling within [Pilgrimage UCC] to get enough volunteers each week we host. [Pastor Kim] is trying to figure out if we take some different approaches to gathering volunteers if we can continue to host in 2018 or if we need to step out. Before people can volunteer, either to provide food or stay the night at the church, they have to attend a training. Training is held once a month, typically on the second Tuesday from 7 to 9 pm at Transfiguration Catholic Church, 1815 Blackwell Rd, Room 114, Marietta, GA 30066. Our next hosting date is December 3-10. If there is any interest, please let me know.
