We're hiring! OHOOPEE REGIONAL LIBRARY SYSTEM Reidsville Library Clerk Part Time... Reports to: Under the supervision of the Branch Manager and County Librarian General Summary: Job: This position is a part time job averaging 16 hours per week and is paid 7.50 per hour. Position duties may include, but are not limited to, helping customers with research, and use of the library automation system to circulate materials, shelving, assisting with programming and other clerical duties as assigned. Primarily responsible for helping library patrons, assisting with library programming, data entry and other duties as assigned. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: 1) Greets patrons and visitors to the library at the front desk in a friendly manner. 2) Compiling records for different projects. 3) Accurately process monetary transactions of library fees and sales. 4) Respond to patrons in person and by phone regarding general inquiries, policies and research. 5) Ability to speak, read, write and understand English fluently; communicate orally and clearly in person and over the telephone; work well with the public. 6) Varied work schedule and weekend hours as needed. May include some outreach hours. Physical Requirements: Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions, but these skills are necessary requirements of the position. 1) Strength necessary to push loaded book cart weighing approximately 200 pounds on level floor and up ramp, to lift or maneuver onto cart loads up to 50 pounds and to carry cartons of books up and down stairs. 2) Ability to bend, stoop and lift for prolonged periods in cramped spaces. 3) Stamina to stand for prolonged periods up to six hours in a shift, although not continually. Frequent standing and sitting. Qualifications: 1) High energy to deal with the public for sustained periods while maintaining positive and enthusiastic communication. A good public service attitude is a must. 2) Must have basic computer and search skills. 3) Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting. 4) Some flexibility with week day hours but must be available to work Saturdays. Education, Experience, and Training: 1) High school diploma or GED or attending school to complete these requirements.
