A massive thank you to all of the amazing Emory community members who participated in #EmoryDenimDay this year! Our community is what makes us stronger, and so many wonderful folks stood up on Wednesday to share their support for survivors. Here's a sampling of some of our favorites!

Don't forget about the incredible, thought-provoking events we have lined up for next week! The Sexual Citizens event and Denim Day are coming up on Wednesday and the Take Back the Night rally/march hosted by @oxsapa and @sapaemory is on Friday night.

As #EmoryDenimDay gets closer, we wanted to remind everyone just how easy it is to show your support for survivors by participating in this year's virtual Emory Denim Day event, cosponsored by SGA and GSGA. It's as easy as 1-2-3. Just wear denim on April 21, 2021, snap a pic, and post it to Facebook or Instagram. You can also email your photo [email protected] you'd prefer! Voting is one of the best ways to express your beliefs. The policies and government officials that you vote for can help support survivors of violence, and can even help prevent violence. Go make your voice heard at the polling place today, and once you've done that, take some time to be gentle with yourself. This election cycle has been stressful, and may be triggering for some. Digital violence can be confusing--here's a breakdown of some of the more common forms of technology-based harm. If you suspect a friend is experiencing dating abuse here are a few tips to help them get the assistance they need! Even if you aren't on campus, digital abuse is still happening. Since we are socially distant, digital abuse can occur more often and in different ways. Sexual coercion, cyber bullying, location tracking, and account hacking are just a few ways that abusers can exert power & control. Emory's Fashion & Business Club is hosting a virtual concert with La Altura @la.alturaa in support of RAINN @rainn this Saturday, October 17th. Tickets are $4 and all proceeds go to RAINN. This week, we are turning our focus to intersectionality and relationship violence. While anyone can be a survivor of relationship violence, some groups may be at higher risk of becoming a survivor, including LGBTQ+ people and BIPOC (Black and Indigenous People of Color). October is Relationship Violence Awareness Month (RVAM). During this month, advocates across the nation work together to end all forms of relationship violence. Relationship violence has many names domestic violence, dating violence, intimate partner violence all of these can be defined as physical and/or sexual violence, stalking, or psychological harm by a current or former partner or spouse (CDC). In this toolkit is a collection of resources that will equip advocate...s with the information they need to build a path to ending relationship violence.Find this toolkit, as well as additional information, at the link in our bio! Relationship violence is preventable. These resources will support making a positive impact on all forms of relationship violence. The Office of Respect has resources available for any Emory student needing support surrounding this topic. Respect advocates are available 24/7 by calling (470) 270-5360.

We want you to get involved for October’s Relationship Violence Awareness Month (RVAM)! You can serve as a RVAM liaison and learn more about relationship violence (which is also often referred to as domestic violence, dating violence or intimate partner violence) and share the educational opportunities with your peers, student organizations, department, and colleagues. Emory’s Office of Respect and the Injury Prevention Research Center at Emory (IPRCE) created Relationship V...iolence Awareness Month toolkits that will be launched on the IPRCE website and Office of Respect social media every Monday in October filled with educational opportunities and marketing assets to show your support for this month. There are a variety of learning opportunities including toolkits, webinars to attend, and a video speak out series featuring front line workers including medical providers, clinicians and practitioners. We encourage you to host an educational session on relationship violence during October (and throughout the year!) within your respective spaces on campus.
