Good day, all! This came across my desk, and I thought immediately of Master Chen, of course. The message, "you can be your own worst enemy", is true for many of us many times, but can certainly be turned around, with intention, to being your own best friend!

GONG XI FA CAI! Happy Lunar New Year! Here are excerpts from Master Chen's Dao House posting. May you have a year of hope and happiness! ...Another year has come to bring in a new cycle. This year we welcome in the year of the Earth Dog on February 16, 2018... What can we expect for the year to come? For those who are the year of the dog, there may be some challenges this year, yet nothing that cannot be overcome. As Master Wu Dang Chen states, from times of challenge comes... strength and opportunity. With a joyful outlook on life, and a faithful, loyal heart and intent, it will be an amazing and prosperous year. For all animal signs this year, you can expect a less dramatic year than in years past. There will be an increased social awareness on many levels, from politics to international relations, to our own families and the self. Knowing the two sides that the year of the dog brings, we can be aware of what actions we take and emotions we succumb to. On one hand the dog can be quick to anger, critical of others, stubborn and not heeding the advice of others, hypertensive to criticism and deeply emotional. In the other light, the dog can be very loyal to family, friends and those that support them, along with being straight forward and honest, friendly and responsible for the wellness and welfare of others. Note that these qualities may be accentuated within all of our personalities; therefore there needs to be a general awareness this year to think before reacting to situations... Every New Year brings a time for change. What better way to change, than to utilize the forces already naturally in place. Change for the betterment of the self, and then possibly on a larger scale change for the betterment will also evolve. ....Gong Xi Fa Cai (Gong hay Fat Choy)!!!... See more

New guidelines released by the American College of Physicians suggest that an ancient Chinese martial art can be an effective defense against back pain. Tai chi... combines slow, gentle movements with deep breathing and mental focus. It’s one of several nondrug measures ...that the new guidelines recommend back-pain sufferers try before resorting to over-the-counter or prescription pain medications. [Our students report much benefit in this area from our classes!!] More at: http://www.consumerreports.org/back-/tai-chi-for-back-pain/ See more
