Ever wonder what's with all the strasses and platzes in downtown #AlpineHelenGA? The town wasn't much to look at after the gold rush and timber boom of the ear...ly 1900's, so in 1968 a group of Helen businessmen got together with local artist, John Kollock, to redesign the town and encourage tourists to stop by. Kollock, who had been stationed in Germany while in the service, noticed similarities between the Bavarian mountain valleys and those of his hometown.
