Cleanup season is right around the corner! While events will look different this year, you can still participate in small, socially distanced cleanup events with your family or housemates. If you choose to organize a socially distanced cleanup, please register your event on the Rivers Alive website. In doing so, you will be eligible to receive free Rivers Alive Neck Gaiters/Buffs! If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at [email protected]

The Georgia Environmental Protection Division created this helpful video as a reminder to properly dispose of used personal protective equipment (PPE) like facemasks and gloves. Think twice before throwing these items on the ground, and help keep our communities and waterways clean. #PPEfloats https://youtu.be/p4ssZ9qY7J4

During these times of social distancing, you can still participate in a cleanup and put health and safety first. This past weekend, the Allatoona Lake Warriors, part of the Lake Allatoona Association, removed litter, tires, and other debris during their Little River Cleanup, all while practicing social distancing. Thank you, Allatoona Lake Warriors, for your cleanup efforts! #gariversalive #greatlakeallatoonacleanup The Great Lake Allatoona Clean Up - Georgia

Happy highlight! In 2019, the Etowah River Cleanup Event celebrated its 25th anniversary! Year after year, the event has drawn a dedicated group of organizers and volunteers who are passionate about protecting local streams in Cherokee County. Last October, volunteers removed 3,000 pounds of debris along 8 miles of waterway. Thank you to the volunteers, Upper Etowah River Alliance, Cherokee County Stormwater, and Cherokee County Water and Sewerage Authority for your continued efforts to protect Georgia’s waterways!
