What is a a write off In a Nutshell "Tax write-off" is an unofficial term for expenses that you may be able to deduct on your federal income tax... return. Although you'll often see the term used to refer to business expenses, individuals may also be able to "write off' certain deductible expenses to reduce the amount of income you have to pay tax on. Common tax wrote offs Business Expenses Mortgage Interest Student Loan Interest Medical & Dental Expenses Charitable Contributions Traditional IRA Contributions Health Savings Account What are Some Expenses that you can write off? Child Support (yes you can!) Alimony Paid on divorce agreements entered into after 12/31/18 Political Contributions 529 Contributions may be deductible on state returns Moving Expenses (if you’re not in the military) There's a lot to consider when writing off expenses on your tax return. Legitimate tax write-offs can reduce how much you owe and may even help you qualify for a bigger tax refund. But falsely claiming or misstating a deduction can add up to reporting the wrong total tax obligation on your tax return. And not paying all the tax you owe on time could leave you owing even more and facing interest and penalties on the unpaid amount. Before you write off any expense on your federal income tax return, it's important to understand what you can deduct and the rules for claiming a deduction. #follow @robinsonfinancial for more #taxtips and #taxupdates #atlanta #remotetaxpreparer #taxpreparer #consulting #bookkeeping #taxpreparer #financialservices #marketing #businessowner #charlotte #columbiasc #usvi #westindian #intellectualxtremist #travelingentrepreneur

READ BEFORE ASKING QUESTIONS Let’s clear up some confusion I’ve seen under my previous post: 1. This is not a NEW LAW - they are forcing these peer-to-peer financial Apps to be compliant. 2. How can they tell what’s a personal/gift and what’s business? ... Right now PayPal asks you if the payment is going to Friends/Family OR Paying for Goods/Services - that’s how they tell. Unfortunately Apps like CashApp don’t - I’m sure they’ll be making the adjustment soon. 3. Many merchants have avoided taxes by asking you to send it as Friends/Familythat’s TAX EVASION. And it also prevents you from being able to get a refund or file a dispute - so you should never do that. 4. READ THE ARTICLEmost of what you wanna know is there. 5. I CAN NOT PROVIDE YOU WITH TAX ADVICESEEK A TAX PROFESSIONAL OR CPA. - DON’T TAKE TAX ADVICE FROM RANDOMLY IG PEOPLE GO TO THE IRS.GOV for more info on this and on 1099’s - especially giving and getting them. #robinsonfinancial #atlantaga #caribbean #columbiasc #miamiflorida #miami #alabama #taxprofessional
