Two (2) arrests were made between April 30, 2021 and May 02, 2021; and we have every confidence that these individuals were responsible for a rash of criminal activity in the areas of the Goodyear Village and east of Piedmont Avenue. The individuals arrested were Robert Walker and Jesse Jackson. Your local elected officials are aware of several of your concerns with crime and suspicious activi...ty in the area. With that in mind, your local elected officials, in concert with our command staff, have developed and are implementing tactics and techniques to address your concerns in our hometown. With so many cancelled events this year, The City of Rockmart is happy to present Drive Thru Trick or Treating! Join the Spooktacular fun Saturda...y, October 31st from 4 6 pm. This is a fantastic and safe alternative to door-to-door trick-or-treating, put on your costume, pull up in your car, and let the City of Rockmart employees fill your bag with treats! This event is FREE and open to the public. Don’t miss all the fun! All participants must come in a vehicle; no walk-ups will be permitted. We encourage visitors to dress up and decorate their vehicles. Participants must enter the parking lot from from Prospect Road, then will be directed around the parking lot. *COVID 19 Note: This event will be held outside. Please remain in your car at all times. Plan to attend this event with members of your household. FREE to the public.

Good afternoon Rockmart! We are pleased to announce that the Rockmart Police Department will still have our annual Christmas is for Kids program. Too many programs have been cancelled already, but our kids will still have Christmas from us. We will begin taking applications for this program at our office starting tomorrow October 22, 2020 and we will finish taking them on Friday November 20, 2020. The hours here at the front office are from 8:30am - 5:00pm. To apply, you mu...st do so in person and provide the following: Your photo ID. Birth certificate of each child. Two proofs of residency. To qualify, you must be a citizen of the Rockmart/Aragon area. The children must be between the ages of 2-12. We will include siblings who are between birth and 2 if the older ones are approved. We will cross check the applications with other programs in the area to make sure each family is only registered at one place. Today the Polk County Criminal Investigation Division, K9 Unit, and Rockmart Police searched the woods off Highway 101 and Pleasant Valley Road in Floyd County ...for Mr. Jimmy Blackmon or any evidence of his being in the area. At this time we are asking anyone in the area with trail cameras to check them. If you have something on there that’s suspicious we’re asking you notify us. Thank you for your cooperation. See more

Rockmart Fire Department and Rockmart Police Department have new UTV’s to assist them in Silver Comet Trail patrol and responding to accidents and emergencies on the trail. We have had numerous accidents and medical emergencies and our response times would have been shorter with these vehicles. The Police Department will also conduct routine trail patrol throughout the week at different times of the day. We have had several citizens worry about their safety on the trail in ce...rtain areas. If you see a problem area and would like extra patrol, send us a message or call the office. This also helps us be alert and aware of any trail maintenance issues that could be a safety hazard. Our portion of the Silver Comet trail sees a lot of traffic each year and we owe it to the community to be visible and have a presence on it. If you see him let... him know we will give him a free ride to Paulding after we handle business here. The Criminal Investigations Division of the Polk County Police Department is requesting your assistance in identifying a person of interest in a Theft case that occurred at Cowboy’s (4140 Rockmart Highway). We had a hit and run on a team member’s vehicle in our parking lot 9/28 at 11:56 AM. If you recognize this vehicle or anything about this trailer, please let us know.

While passing out food, supplies and clothes in Louisiana with the Polk County Sheriffs Office, Sgt Barry Henderson’s wife Chrissy was approached by this young man. He only had the clothes on his back and was very grateful to receive his shirts and supplies. Her comments: My favorite!! Only had the shirt on his back!! So thankful... made me cry!... We would like to say thank you to all Rockmart and Polk County citizens/businesses who donated. We’re also thankful for the Polk County Sheriffs Office for collecting the items and taking them down. The workers who went down are all precious people and they truly made a difference in those communities. Don’t take things for granted. Lives changed forever in just a few minutes. People who had it all, lost it all. We can be thankful that we still have people willing to give and do the work needed to help others. It could be any of us in the blink of an eye. Thank you all!

We’re thankful and blessed for this wonderful training offered by the staff at Integrity BJJ and Fitness in Carrollton. Volunteers of Polk County will gather together on Saturday, October, 3rd, at Seaborn Jones park in Rockmart, Ga, to clean up the creeks and educate the community on the importance of keeping our county beautiful.

A relief effort, being spearheaded by the POLK COUNTY SHERIFFS OFFICE, to bring hurricane relief to the citizens of the Lake Charles, Louisiana is underway. THANK YOU, ROCKMART SLATE CORPORATION for the generous donation, toward this effort, of much needed supplies. As of now, the convoy of aid will be headed toward those in need on Monday September 21, 2020.... Anyone willing or able to give toward this effort can contact the POLK COUNTY SHERIFFS OFFICE directly or the ROCKMART POLICE DEPARTMENT in order to coordinate pick-up.
