Another item for sale as we get rid of redundant stuff. More to be listed.
Since we've moved from the physical office to telecommuting, we have some extra stuff. We'll be putting it up on e-bay. Here's our first. All you need to have a working computer is to add a hard drive and operating system (you can buy an OEM version of Windows 10 for fairly cheap from Micro Center, an hard drives are cheap too). For data security reasons, we're not including the hard drives, sorry...
We are closing our physical office and moving home. When we did that before, it was due to the Recession, and a drop in business. This time business hasn't dropped, but with software such as Zoom for meetings, gigabit speeds for Internet, and other advances, and office is no longer needed. With COVID, it's not something we desire for safety reasons. A trend that we've noticed with our residential work is more and more people are working from home. I suspect that this may affect office occupancy in the future, much like online shopping has affected brick and mortar retail space.
OK, here's something I didn't know. I was reading through an engineering text written in 1875, and I found out gold was traditionally divided into 24 parts. So, "24 carat" gold is pure. "18 carat" gold is 18 parts gold and 6 parts some other metal. At that time our measure of length was based on a pendulum vibration in London at sea level at 62 degrees Fahrenheit. However, because of a fire in Parliament in 1834, the standard was destroyed and it wasn't possible to restore it by measuring the pendulum, so British and US measurements at that time varied slightly. So, if anyone asks you, now you know something else.
This is an older video of the second shipping container house that we designed.
My latest blog post. It's not related to services we provide, but it's based on my experience and seeing current events. https://runkleconsulting.com/what-happens-when-cars-go-ele/
This is the second shipping container house we designed in Atlanta. It's located in Old Fourth Ward. If's a fairly simple house. It was built in 2008.
Here's a video of a container home design we just finished. We really like this one, watch the video and see why.
We're building up our new website, check out our latest post!https://runkleconsulting.com/this-odd-old-house/
Here's one we were at today. The house was built in 1936, and for some of the columns they used tree trunks. The brick in the subwall is failing, the subwall looks like it was built in pieces (different brick, different workmanship). Also, note the cribbing on the wall - it is rough sawn lumber, probably salvaged from another house or barn. That is fairly common on old houses around here btw.
Our redesigned website is now live! Please check it out...https://runkleconsulting.com/
