By now many of you have heard that Horace Reeves passed away on July 30th. He was scheduled to perform Friday in the park. Instead, we will celebrate the life of Horace, a favorite musician and long time resident of Rutledge. He was crowned Mr. Rutledge in 2016. Horace has been a wonderful, valued member of our community, both in song and deed. He never failed to greet everyone with a smile and one of his unforgettable jokes. Please join the family and the community Friday night as we celebrate Horace's life and his music. Due to the rise in Covid cases and Horace's wife Yvonne's health issues, the family respectfully requests that everyone maintain a safe distance when greeting Yvonne and the family. We look forward to seeing you all on Friday for a very special tribute. Don't forget your lawn chairs.

Tonight's featured artist is the legendary Tommy Talton. Tommy has performed several times at The Rutledge Summer Concert Series, and he is certainly one of our favorites. In the '70s, he toured with Gregg Allman, Cowboy, the band he co-founded, and he has recorded with artists such as The Allman Brothers Band, Gregg Allman, Kitty Wells, Alex Taylor, and many others. He has written some of the most beautiful songs ever written, and his guitar work is unforgettable and second to none. He has released numerous albums and his music can be purchased on his website: www.tommytaltonmusuc.com . While we are on hiatus from concerts in the park due to covid-19 and unsure if we will be able to hold any concerts this year, we will be sharing virtual concerts, videos and songs from artists who were booked this year and/or artists who have performed in the past at The Rutledge Summer Concert Series every Friday night. Tonight, we feature a song by one of our favorites EG Kight written about 9/11. In her own words: "This is a song that I wrote with Gaye Adegbalola right af...ter 9/11. She gave me the idea about someone who may have had a spat and then one of them was gone before they could fix things. The lyrics came to me real quickly. Hopefully it will be a song of healing. Please go hug someone and make things better. Don't hesitate, it may be too late. This song is from my "Southern Comfort" cd and this is Paul Hornsby playing the piano. I took this photo not to long after 9/11 at Ground Zero. It spoke volumes to me." Thank you EG. Never forget. #RutledgeGASummerConcertSeries #911 #neverforget See more

We wanted to provide a quick update on the status of the Rutledge Summer Concert Series. We do still plan to have concerts; however, we are not certain when they will begin or the duration. Safety of our community and musicians is our number one priority. We are hoping to begin in August after the Community Fair (previously Country Fair)and we will most likely extend the series into the fall, assuming it is safe and continues to be safe. We appreciate your patience and understanding during these unprecedented and challenging times. We will update everyone here periodically, and hopefully we'll be announcing our first concert soon. We hope you are all staying safe and well. Don't hesitate to comment or message us here if you have any questions. Thank you again for all of your support, understanding, and patience.
