Macon Georgia Then & Now shared some of the homes history before coming the new Sardis-Heard Funeral Home. The 200 year old tree. One of the oldest trees in Macon. It has many faces on her. It has given shade to Indians, Stage Coach Travelers, Civil War Officers, and a host of field workers at the end of a long day of work. There were people in this house who lived through the Revolutionary War. There were people in this house who fought in Civil War, and the Spanish Americ...an War. This is the Famous Staircase to no where. The door at the top of the stairs opens to a simple attic. For almost two hundred years none of the owners have ever tried to do anything with that attic space. The legends say the ghost of Civil War Soldiers have keep that part of the house for themselves.
