Savannah Bone and Joint

It's so crazy for me to think that 12 years ago today I took a leap of faith and started Savannah Bone and Joint. While the stress and responsibility of running a business has taken its toll on my personal life, it has been a more rewarding journey than I could have ever imagined. The unpredictability of my days sometimes left me with less time to care for my patients than I had intended. There a have been a few patients who have not appreciated the efforts, in this overwh...elming paperwork intense medical system, that we have always made to be efficient. The "art of medicine" does not always allow for a quick diagnosis and treatment, but luckily we have managed to make the vast majority of our patients better! Amazingly, the office has been voted the "Best in Savannah" more times than any other. It has been an honor and pleasure to be a top provider of Orthopedic Care in the community and we look forward to many more years of service :) Thank you for your confidence and continued support. With all the heartache and sadness going on in my personal life it was wonderful to receive a card in the mail from a patient today that reminded me of why I work so hard everyday to make the world a better place and heal the sick...it read: "Dr. Winchell, Once again, I wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for literally saving my life. Had you not ordered the CT scan I would not be here. I am not sure how much you have kept up in the 'loop'. I actually have ...Leiomyosarcoma, which you know is a very rare cancer. I'm in my 5th week of recovery since surgery. There was also a suspicious tissue on my spine which is also Leiomyosarcoma. I will be doing radiation for that. I head to Emory to meet with the Sarcoma specialist there to talk about a treatment plan. I want to encourage you to reach out and help others. I do believe it is a ministry! I will continue to pray for God to use you and for his blessings on you. Thanks again for saving my life." It is such an honor for people to trust me with their medical care...and letters like this...after the year I have had are certainly appreciated :)

Hard to believe I am starting year # 14 in solo Orthopedic Practice today! I opened Savannah Bone and Joint on February 21, 2005 with a dream to make it the best Orthopedic Surgery office in the Region. After numerous accolades, awards and patient testimonials it is so rewarding to have achieved my goal.
