Welcome back for your next Frogwarts: School of Magic virtual class! This weekend is the perfect time to begin your midterm exam for Astronomy and Defense Against the Dark Arts. Please tag Savannah Children's Museum or Coastal Heritage Society with photos or videos of your work so we can feature our Star Students! This October is a special one for stargazers, as we are gifted with two full moons this month: the first on October 1 and the second, which will be a Blue Moon and ...a Hunter's Moon, will appear in the sky on October 31. A full moon on Halloween only occurs once every 19 years; a rare treat indeed! However, more interesting than the bright objects in our observable universe are the planets, constellations, nebulas, and galaxies that glitter in a realm we have yet to see. What do you think is out there? Create a spell to show us your fantasy galaxy. This spell can be cast by compiling objects around your home. Black construction paper is the only requirement! From there, bring your imaginary galaxy, constellation, or planet to life by experimenting with your favorite colors and mediums, including crayons, markers, ink, and paint. Ambitious students searching for an extra credit opportunity can try Transfiguration Professor Ashley Rainge's spell below, which uses heat and resin to transform solid pigment powder into pourable acrylic paint!

Frogwarts: School of Magic is going virtual for the Fall Semester. We want to encourage our bright witches and wizards to continue to learn and practice spells from home while sprinkling a little magic into commonplace, Muggle materials. Here is your assignment for Potions Class! The Professors want to see your work. Please tag Savannah Children's Museum or Coastal Heritage Society with photos or videos of your spell so we can feature our Star Students! Stay tuned for Defense Against the Dark Arts later this week!
