We are so thankful for our community partners! The team at Hartwell Lake recently received a donation of XXL/XXXL Type III Life Jackets from the America's Boating Club - Golden Corner Lakes in time for the July 4th weekend. These life jackets will be used in the Hartwell Lake Life Jacket Loaner Program and can be checked out for personal use at Corps managed campgrounds at Hartwell Lake.... We've had several drownings at #CorpsLakes this year. 100% of victims were not wearing a life jacket. 100% were male between the ages of 30-60. Almost all incidents involved alcohol. Be safe this July 4th weekend and wear a life jacket when you're on or near the water, Please Wear It.

Teams from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District are on the scene of the Surfside, Fla. condo collapse where more than 150 residents are still unaccounted for. Rescue crews have been working non-stop since the collapse early Thursday morning, with rescuers switching out over different shifts as weather and fires complicated their efforts. These anglers caught our gratitude! The Greenbrier Fishing Team worked with Thurmond rangers Saturday to build 40 bamboo fish habitat structures for placement in select locations around Thurmond Lake. The Corps and Greenbrier have been working together under a local partnership agreement for a couple of years on several conservation-related endeavors to enhance fisheries habitat lake-wide. ... These efforts provide volunteer support for the lake fisheries program and local anglers a quality fishing experience. Thanks again, Greenbrier High School Fishing Team! Ken Boyd
